The following is a list of notable deaths in 2009. Names are listed under the date of death, not the date it was announced. Names under each date are listed in alphabetical order by family name.

WTF.....?

Deaths of notable animals (that is, those with their own Wikipedia articles) are also reported here.

A typical entry lists information in the following sequence:

Name, age, country of citizenship and reason for notability, established cause of death, reference.

Great news,

He came back from the dead to attend Michael Jackson's funeral.

Just goes to show how magical MJ really is.

They're gonna need a silver bullet AND a stake thru the heart to kill Tyson.

That dude is the best pure punching power boxer that has ever lived by a mile. He talks about how he didn't want to start training again because it brought out the "Bad Mike".

You wont find anyone who is more honest about his failings and his own personality flaws than Tyson. I hope he does great in whatever challenges he tries next.

Those body shots were brutal! I agree most powerful puncher I have ever seen.

He sure has become humble and mature as he aged. With all he has overcome, its nice to see.

I just can't imagine anyone willing to get into the ring with him for any amount of money in his prime. First time he swung I would take a dive, either intentionally or unintentionally, whichever came first.
