First Female Italian Prime Minister.
I don’t know much about her except that a few people I don’t really respect seem to hate her.
Apparently "God, family, and country" are fascist now.

Thoughts, feelings, concerns?

Obviously you'd need to check out the citations yourself to see if they are in valid context, but her wiki page describes some of the things that people may hold against her.

My gut feeling is that "God, family, and country" is a political slogan as much as anything else.

Controversies
Meloni has expressed statements that generated controversy.[130][131] She praised Italian dictator Benito Mussolini as "a good politician, the best in the last 50 years" in an interview to the French newscast Soir 3 in 1996.[132][133] In May 2020, she praised Giorgio Almirante, the co-founder of the Italian Social Movement (MSI),[134][135] who was a Nazi collaborator and editor-in-chief of the antisemitic and racist magazine La Difesa della Razza,[92][136] which published the "Manifesto of Race" in 1938.[137] In December 2020, the independent journalistic TV program Report revealed through an investigative report that her party "has reached the negative record of arrests for mafia group 'Ndrangheta",[138] and also having among her ranks Mussolini's descendants,[139] as well as fascist nostalgics,[140][141][142] according to a 2021 investigative report by Fanpage.[143][144] In November 2018, Meloni declared that the celebration of the Liberation Day, also known as the Anniversary of Italy's Liberation from Nazi-Fascism on 25 April, and Festa della Repubblica, which celebrates the birth of the Italian Republic on 2 June, should be substituted with the National Unity and Armed Forces Day on 4 November, which commemorates Italy's victory in World War I. She said that Liberation Day and Festa della Repubblica are "two controversial celebrations".[145] She has tried to distance herself from her close ties to Roberto Jonghi Lavarini,[146] a far-right Milanese politician and entrepreneur known as the "Black Barron".[147][148][149]

In 2006, Meloni defended the laws passed by the Berlusconi III Cabinet that benefited Berlusconi's companies and also delayed ongoing trials involving him. Meloni stated "it is necessary to contextualise them. Those are laws that Silvio Berlusconi made for himself. But they are perfectly fair laws."[150] After the formation of FdI in 2012, Meloni decided to add the "tricolour flame" symbol to its flag, a symbol associated with MSI, which derived its name and ideals from the Italian Social Republic (RSI) a "violent, socialising, and revolutionary republican" variant of Italian Fascism established as a Nazi German puppet state by Mussolini in 1943.[151] The "tricolour flame" represents Mussolini's remains, where a flame is always burning on his tomb in Predappio.[152] Responding to the 2021 investigation, Meloni minimized the investigation, while she also refused to remove openly neo-fascist members of FdI.[153][154] Shortly before the 2022 general election, Meloni sacked a member that openly praised Adolf Hitler.[64] FdI had also distanced itself from the Ascoli Piceno section of FdI after it celebrated the anniversary of the March on Rome in 2019.[155]

Meloni is a controversial figure in Croatia due to her Italian irredentist statements in which she claimed the Croatian regions of Dalmatia and Istria, and for being opposed to Croatian entry into the European Union due to the unresolved dispute concerning properties of exiled Italians after World War II from Dalmatia and Istria.[156]

First Sweden , now Italy, rejecting the leftist mantra and fighting back .

Both countries ruined by the endless onslaught of African and Arab migrants , against the wishes of the people, she campaigned to end that and protect family values that Italy holds as part of its being, as well as its religious history.

Sound familiar. ?

As always, you only need to look at the people losing their shit over her winning, to know she is the right person.

Sound familiar?

Already banged heads with the head of the EU , they will, almost certainly, hold a referendum to leave, and it will be successful.

So to add to this, i live halfway between 2 cities , 25 miles apart , here in the UK, both have a huge Indian , Bangladeshi and Pakistani community.

For those of you that pay attention , India was split in 2 in 1947, with Pakistan being the Muslim Country , and India being the Hindu one.

Then in 1971 , Bangladesh split from Pakistan.. as it didnt want to be controlled by the Muslims and made to speak Urdu which wasnt their language.

So as a result of our colonising of India, and it becoming independent as part of the Commonwealth, we took many immigrants from the area, back in the l50 and 60 ( as well as those from the West Indies) and these settled in our inner cities, and Leicester and Coventry took loads. Coventry was the Detroit of the UK and Leicester was a major producer of clothing , both needed labour and they came in droves.

But obviously , they come from 3 separate countries who hate each other, and our authorities failed to see how that may be an issue.

To be fair, they crack on, keep themselves to themselves, but both cities have been massively changed , culturally, and from a safety point of view.

So we have 2nd , 3rd and 4th generation immgrants, who are now fully integrated ( to a point) in to the UK , but now we are getting shit started by new people coming from these places, who dont like the fact that those here , are not following the rules enough.

Running battles in Leicester for the last week , with the police powerless as always .

Think 'mostly peaceful protests' but with less fire.

Italy is having the same issue with Africans, and its fucking them over big time.

A well known politician in the 60's called Enoch Powell had a speech titled 'Rivers of Blood' that foretold the troubles we are have been seeing , and he was vilified at the time, as his consituency in Birmingham was being filled with West Indian people in the same way .

I have worked in all 3 of these cities, within their communities, ( as a right wing racist , by today's standards) and never had an issue, but there is an underlying issue now with some of them that cannot be dealt with because the Police refuse to investigate it.

I have a great friend in Italy who grew up here in the UK, and says Italy has changed beyond belief, and not for the better.

He says that he voted for her, and lots of others he knows did too, out of desperation to save what is left of their country, because everyone else wants europe to be one big multicultural mess.

France is fucked for the same reason, and they had Marine Le Pen close to victory, i cant see Macron surviving another vote.

OP: I was getting ready to post about this last night and forgot. Huge for Italy. Have family still there and the last 8-12 years have been getting progressively worse they were talking about being the next to follow the Dutch farming laws and we all know how that's going. I also think if Italy goes italy may work with Greece Greece will follow along on some favorable trade deals that can help turn their economy around with the UK, Italy and US depending on who's running things and how things play out with the cost of energy in the next 18 months

PhilG: This holds even more promise if your new PM and Italy's PM can get on the same page. Work trade deals should Italy hold a referendum on a Eu exit.

for me it's simple at the end of her years will she have improved the life of Italians or not, we will be able to judge her then. But also we all know how fragile is the republic in Italy, governments don't last very long over there.

Italy is by European standards a very new nation, unlike France, England or Spain. In fact some argue that many Italians have never really embraced the concept of nation and still prefer the city state that was the way of life untill the late 19 century, this is one of the characteristic that make it so hard to govern.

It's obvious Europe has an immigration problem, All the far right parties rise are because of that and the left delusion that refuse to see the issue because they are afraid of been called racist, as a result each year they have less and less vote and the trend will continue until they wake up. The danish socialist party is the only left party that have a good outlook, and that is because they not only they didn't ignore the immigration problem but decided to tackle it, they have been rewarded.
Myself an immigrant that lives in Europe can see that the latest wave of immigrants are a huge problem for Europe, they don't have any skills to integrate in the labor market and becomes a burden for the state, some becoming homeless others ends in the crime business, unfortunately they are ruining it for every body and can sense the increase hostility towards any immigrant in Europe.

People that downvoted this have their heads up their arses. Italians are great people and it’s a beautiful place.
Great news she is in and boy I hope she kicks the EU to the fucking curb.

We had plans (well half plans) to move to Canada with a buddy, but until Turdeau is gone, i wont be coming.

Same with the US, although we still cant go there, i wont set foot in the place while Biden is in charge.

It looks like Poilivierre (sp) is making a noise there, hopefully people are waking up.
