From what I can figure out, new Chief isn't into it
They had a big tribal thing where the old chief was illegally passing out large sums of money to various tribal (and non-tribal) individuals
Allegedly, one of those people was the former manager of the track. So he was shit canned.
New manager, who'd been there forever as the track builder, took over
But seems the new Chief if tossing in the towel.
Maybe he feels it has bad ju-ju and is tainted

They put a lot of money into that place

That sucks.
We have a couple big Native tribes here in New England and there has been similiar money scandals.

Talking to Wes about it a couple years ago it sounded like they had really invested a lot of cash in the place.
Too bad.

Dammit Dave, that just ruined my day. I love that track. They are dropping like fly's.

At least we still have Thundercross local.

Fact of the matter is that Tribes have elected officials and the politics within sometimes make our national political scene look trivial. Imagine all the agenda's people have nowadays, green, non green, social programs, income (annual pac), health care, building and promoting the tribe etc...

Take the maybe 2 to 8 thousand people that are in the tribe looking out for their individual wishes.

Now throw in ??? millions of dollars from the tribes gaming receipts.....

You don't think there will be abrupt changes?

The best thing to do is to have a set of representatives from the local riding community, who use the facility in question regularly, be chosen and have regular meetings with the tribal officials so their opinions and ideas can be heard.

Most tribes are looking for positive ways to impact their regions and keeping kids involved in activities such as ours are generally responded to well.

Meetings have been held since then and the local Seminole Tribe Business owners are PISSED ! The track brought in a lot of $$ for the reservation and the track has a chance. The folks meeting that do not want the track to close can turn this around. We have talked to business owners on the reservation and they have had several meetings. We are hoping for some positive news this week.

STMX was packed Saturday and Sunday, nobody wants the track to close. Also, we don't care about the location, as it is the only track we can go to where we don't have to travel 2+ hours to get to. Did it for years, every weekend 4 and 5 hours, we need this in South Florida.

This was by far the worst news I had recieved in a long time. In a tough time with the economy and just life being really tough lately that track was my sanctuary. I loved that place so much and it has kept me sane since i don't travel to race like i did for most my life. We always had to drive many hours to tracks every week and did so for 20 some years. This place was the best thing to happen to me in years when it came together and i am heart broken that it ended so abruptly. I also loved the regulars and would sometimes be there well after riding was closed just talking moto and it was part of the reason it was so much fun for me especially since the only people I have that know anything about dirtbikes in my area for years is you vitalfreshdirtmotodrivers. I was out of town for last weeks final ride and i was sick about it. Thanks a ton Shelly for all you do. You have a great moto family and you guys do a lot for our sport and riders. This is just really sad to lose such an awesome facility. What is this about the chief and manager?

Maybe it was just the conditions that day but I wasn't found of the sand. Nice facility though! Shame if it goes away.

You will LOVE Florida Tracks and Trails. Its a National Caliber track alongside one of the best amateur tracks. The trails are now dry so you can go in there and work on corners. Trail 3 is like a 20 minute turn track. I wish it was not 3 hours from me.

Cool picture of Seminole. Looks like we could be riding with a week or two of work.

My friends son was a IRS / Treasury Agent type and had to be evacuated from a Indian Reservation under the cover of night as he was to be murdered he heard because he was investigating misuse of Tribal money supplied by the US Government.

The tracks were awesome, but the trails were awful. I did a few of the FTR hare scrambles there and the sand whoops had rocks scattered through that blended in so well you couldn't see them at speed, REALLY sketchy.

It would be great if there was a new Chief and if they opened it back up, but I'm not going to hold my breath.
