Seriously? Even I think Ricky would laugh at that.

Unlikely. VERY. But what a david/goliath story that would make on so many levels!
Actually, that has already happened. Ricky is in the Nite show on a old, cheap bike with a half size motor.

almost 8 seconds off Roczen.

He needs to find about 4-5 seconds before the LCQ. Probably not able to do all the jump.

No problem just put the "other" cylinder on before the LCQ! Its absolutely bull that he can't run a 144!

this just proves that they need to change the rules to make it more equal

125's always had an issue with the big stuff. It was obvious when the 250F's came out that the 125's days were numbered with the displacement rules as they are. Not even in the same class. The 250F is more evenly matched to a 250 2 stroke than it is a 125 anyday. Good to see Renner putting it out there though.

The results from here and from Daytona leave no valid argument to keep the rules as they are. Upping the lites class to 150 2T is CLEARLY the right thing to do.

They said they believe he's on a 125. Ricky wants them to tear it down anyway.

It was a good effort on a bike that cost maybe $2200.

One idea I heard floated today was that everyone rides 250s in the future, including the premier class, and the there are varying levels of mods allowed to separate the men from the boys.

I have always thought the classes should be seperated by power to weight ratio only. Everything else is wide open for whatever. Money wouldn't be much of a factor. Because power can always be created with increased displacement. Development by the teams with money would be awesome though. And, all the bikes would be close to equal. We really would see who the best racers are.

This is how I thought he would do at Daytona, I think track conditions and Renners skills were the difference at Daytona over 20 cc

On a hard slick track where everyone is more evenly matched the 2 stroke is just a huge disadvantage.

Claim rule the "lites" class, say at 20 thousand...

Is there any logical reason why the displacement rule of 125/250/500 shouldn't be restored? It seem an easy fix to a polarizing issue.

the only "logical" reason, would be so the OEM's could make $ on the 4 strokes

Yea, 2smoke30, that's what I always figured. The Big 4's financial pressure on the AMA and FIM and all that. But there is such a huge grassroots' movement to erradicate the rule that it's absurd that it remains. Not even the "4-Stroke Mafia" gives a rat's arse about the displacement rule anymore.

it would be awesome to bring back the 125 class
have the 250 class be a real 250 class regardless of strokes
and same with the 500 class, maybe sleeve down a 500 2 stroke and keep the displacement at 450 for the 4 strokes

it would be so exciting to watch the 2 types do battle on a equal playing field, but if they are equal, the 250f would basically go away i think the factory teams would want every advantage possible, same with the 450f's i think most teams would opt for a 450 2 stroke

And what was the reasoning behind this idea? Too many injuries in the 450 class and no racers left halfway through the season?

Whatever the result It was refreshing that Renner gave us all something to cheer for and be excited about. Cheers To him!!!!

and on the debate of classes... 125/250/500 its not going to matter if the Sanctioning body doesn't step up to the plate and police the bikes for mods. The bikes need to be cheaper and more equal from the leader to the back of the class regardless of how many times the piston moves up and down.

a third class would definatelly allow for the mix in of new blood. A heavily policed spec class would be great for young entry level pros.
I vote Stock 125s...

I like that idea for SX. 450's are fine outdoors though.
