Anyone feel like posting Pics of their project bikes? Maybe talk about what you're doing to them. I need a little inspiration. Im buying a 250 2 stroke soon and I'd like to have some fun building it up.

One of my many...

05 YZ125 I cleaned up, I liked the way it came out...

New: 07 piston, 07 cylinder, 07 style plastics & graphics, tires, rims, 07 YZ250F SSS fork and shock, 07 YZ250F front brake caliper, etc....shame I never got to ride it...

Looking back I sort of wish I'd taken off the fork guard graphics...ahh well...

Bought a 03 YZ 125 just a little over a week ago. I took the pics with my phone so the quality sucks, and it actually makes it look a lot cleaner than it is because those blemishes don't really show up.

Here's the day I got it after I peeled off the numbers and countless stickers that were on it.

I'm in college right now and I'm trying to do it out of my own pocket, so I don't really have much of a budget. I'm just trying to get it rideable since it's been a few years since I've ridden, and then when it gets cold here I'll try to add a little bling to it. So far, I only bought some little things like chain, sprockets, fluids, some seals, levers, preprinted #s, tires on the way, and spent a pretty good portion on tools etc. Also, I'm working out of a pretty cramped 5x10 space too, so that kind of sucks, but its all good. I'm just glad I have something.

It was all fun and game until my daughter asked how many riders were in my class and I had to tell her that there were only 2 of us. (But I really put it to the other guy... :-)

I had the cylinder repaired by millennium technologies, put a new wiseco piston, reeds and a bunch of other small parts. I sold it about a month ago. It was a beautiful bike but i needed money for a 250 two stroke.

That thing looks amazing man! Hows the new shock feel? Is that the stock linkage?

the Ohlins performs well, it's hard to compare it to the stock Kayaba as I discovered the stock shock rod end was fractured when disasembling the bike and I last raced it 15 years ago!

I bought the Ohlins from a comany called MH Racing in England, they built it corny weight and ability for a sum less than I could source a NOS Kawasaki item. The forks look standard, but have ohlins internals that a Belgian Kawasaki dealer had sitting in his parts department for nearly 2 decades!

The linkage is stock, just polished and was one of the photos that I cold post quickly indicating the level of resto it went through.

The bike gets used regularly now, but I've managed to keep it in the condition in the photos. This thing is my obsession and since completion my KX250f just seems plain boring, to both look at and ride, when I ride the 125 it takes me back to being a 15 year old kid.

Need somthing else to restore this winter, thnking an early nineties Yamaha TY250r pinky trials bike!

Great work Ewan. Did you restore the swingarm or is it new? Im looking for a way to restore a s/a to look oem but w/o powercoating. I dont like the sandbasted etch look or the mirror finish some people do.

Ewan, I had a 91 KX125. Loved the bike but hated the way it kept eating pistons and cylinders. NEver bought another Kawi since. Mine had the bottom shock bolt back out and chew into the right linkage arm just like yours in this pic.

Nice resto and I'm sure it's fun to ride.

Well, I just got started on this project. I bought this 2003 KX 125 for $400.00 in horrible shape. Blown motor, and neglected for 3 years.

My plans:

I am going to frame the bike, and make it a replica of the 2004 KX125 Pro Circuit built a couple months back for Wiemer. PC motor, pipe, silencer, clamps, Excel wheels, powdercoated frame and other odds and ends. Cant wait!

My current toilet reading material is the Winter 2008/09 issue of "Motorcyclist Retro" that features the RD350. 15+ pages devoted to that bike.
