Was thinking that someone could do some sort of a tear-off for the front number plate. I don't know how much mud can collect on it but it might save a pound or so over the course of a muddy moto. Plus make the bike a little more TV camera friendly by being able to read the number.

Or not.

thats certainly not the worst idea to come out for motocross bikes...but in the middle of a race the last thing Im worrying about is if others can see my front number plate or not. The riders have a lot more to worry about, and I dont think any of them would really want something extra, even something small like that to worry about.

Yeah, but not every rider is in a pitched battle the entire moto. Often a leader checks out or you occasionally have a guy in 4th or 5th pretty much riding their own race for much of the moto. In those instances they could casually reach up over a table or big air section and yank a tearoff from the front giving them a pristine front number.

On the other hand .... if you had someone right on your tail you could sling a nice half pound of muddy tearoff back at them. lol

Of course now you got a little more trash on the track to clean up afterwards.

Bikes look better with unreadable front number plates. Leave it alone.

Actually, for Enduros this would be really beneficial. I've worked races where you have to scrape the front number plate to record their number, and after about 200 or so, it gets old.

Maybe we should work together since I just registered the url and have started trademark paperwork.

Did you ever take notice of all the tear-offs in the dirt, imagine dinner plate sized plastic film there to. The tree huggers would love to see that, just another reason to try to shut you down.

The track owners where I work actually have a couple folks that walk around the track on the day after a race weekend and picks them all up.

We have a river that runs right behind the track and they want to make sure the DEP folks don't have any complaints.

I have a better idea. What they really need is some kind of device that deflects roost coming off the back tire. Roost seems like an unfair advantage for the guy in front especially on a 450...
