Euros dominated for a long time, I think we all knew it would turn that way again at some point, this just might be that point.

I think its about that time. The americans dominated years back with pure skills and speed but the euros have caught up. If you look back they got luckily when pourcel tire blew up 2011 and 2012 that was a disaster for the americans and 2013 on a hard pack track and still lost.

I wouldn't say so. It's not like the same country won the last two years. Team USA is still the team to beat every year. When Villopoto is there, Team USA wins. I guess all I'm saying is a 3-2 score at the last two MXoN with your top rider out both times doesn't mean you aren't the favorites anymore. On any given day, anything can happen. That's the beauty of sports.

I know "ifs" are like assholes....but if Eli had just cruised in those last few laps behind the mx2's home boy winner that he owned at this year's nats... USA would have won the event in total team dominance. So not a chance, but there is now parity, certainly on a GP track.

500 Guy, the only way that makes sense is if you allow 20 AMA guys on the line, and that ISN'T going to happen anytime soon.

Even then you are talking about 20 AMA guys on unfamiliar tracks racing GP riders on GP tracks.

Top five in the final moto, the all important MX1/Open moto and not an AMA guy in sight. Says enough!!!!

Very selective there. How many AMA riders were on the line that moto? 3? How about we talk about moto 2 where the AMA guys were 3 out of the top 4 and the top two had a 45 second lead? That also may have been the only 3 AMA riders in that moto as well. It's amazing how selective people on both sides of this argument are. Just respect every rider and how amazing they are. If we all did that even for just one day, this board would be a much more pleasant place.

3 U.S. riders and 37 from the rest of the world, mostly Europeans in all three motos on a GP track. Barcia wins his class. Tomac on Roczen like a bad habit on Roczen's home track.

Oh wait a second, 2 U.S. riders and 38 from the rest of the world, mostly Europeans.

And I already know you are that stupid (as does everyone else here), but thanks for playing anyway.

USA is still going to be the team to beat for the foreseeable future for the simple reason that they are able to consistently field 3 top riders. Most other countries are lucky if they can have 2, or even 1.
This is still a 1 day event where anything can happen. But over the long haul the USA is still going to dominate. (especially when other team "managers" shun 2 time world champions for relatively unknowns...)

Maybe if the US isn't competitive anymore, we should just stay home. Smile

Lot of "what ifs" in the race as there always is. Gotta wonder how Germany would have finished if Ullrich could have finished his moto's; how much better could have Belgium finished if Desalle hadn't dropped out, Eli's crash and its effect on USA's results, etc. etc. Pretty obvious though there's parity amongst the top Euro's and top Americans now.

Agreed.

If there is a difference between now and say, the 80s and early 90s - it's that the GP riders have caught up in shear speed and, depending on the circuit, can sometimes even be perhaps a little bit better. That last point is also true of the American riders. Both sides are unsurprisingly stronger on tracks they know. But fielding a 3 man effort comprised of former or current champions is still a distant hope for most countries. In short the U.S will win again soon enough.

I'll wait.

Glad the riders are smarter than you
It was a joke based on your comments above "Top five in the final moto, the all important MX1/Open moto and not an AMA guy in sight. Says enough!!!!" Did you see the Smile ? Why the personal attack?

No, same world order. Lot's of good riders in both series and anyone can be beaten in any race on any day. Seems like the 2010 decade is running about the same pattern as the 1990's and 2000's.

What system are we using to determine continents? The European version where many students are taught that we have six continents, where North and South America are combined or the idea that we have 7?

Are Europe and Asia combined as some scientists say?

Or maybe we go off how Geographers divide the planet into 8 regions?

Which one should we pick and why?

This is why we use country to determine these things and which country is the new world order?

I'll wait again.

What country is constantly close to the top?

This is Motocross, they have pretty much Europe and America. So take a guess? 2012 and 2013 six motos, Europeans won them all, team overall to Germany and Belgium. Its can't be that difficult can it?
