MX in the Olympics?

Edited Date/Time 8/4/2012 5:43pm
I love the Olympics, but how bout some love for MX?

They let BMX in, maybe there is hope!

Besides, it would be hilarious to see some of these countries that have never heard of MX put a team together!

Motors would be the one dilemma to that. I would love to see it though, more thrilling than ping pong or water polo.

Nothing with motors in the Olympics... If they'd let MX in they'd have no reasons not to have some MotoGP, a bunch of cars going around in circles, rally, endurocross, etc

It'd be cool but it'll never happen. Not in a million years. And even if they did allow a Motorsport in - MX would be the last.

Some Motorsports are respected, F1 being the most obvious. MX on the other hand is universally looked upon as grubby, dirty, working class and uncivilised. Besides, we all know that MX riders only have to rely on their motors and otherwise require very little in the way of physical conditioning....Whistling

Why not, they now have badminton and trampoline. I'm old school when it comes to the Olympics. All these new events have watered it down too much.

MXDN, yes Olympics, no......

With a good reason behind it MAYBE. MX is the second most physically demanding sport in the world and if they could realize that than maybe something could happen? Doubtful though..

olympics doesnt have anything to do with being physically demanding to make the cut. idk what the criteria is, but that surely isnt it.

ill see if i cant find a suggestion form or something we can all fill out and send in.

edit: nevermind. i found this
Sports that depend primarily on mechanical propulsion, such as motor sports, may not be considered for recognition as Olympic sports, though there were power-boating events in the early days of the Olympics before this rule was enacted by the IOC.[2][10] Part of the story of the founding of aviation sports' international governing body, the FAI, originated from an IOC meeting in Brussels, Belgium on June 10th, 1905.

Pretty sure it went before the IOC before Sydney in 2000 and got shut down unanimously...
