I'll work on some tomorrow...but in the meantime, I'd like some feeback from you guys as well. What would you like to see in the posting rules to keep things civil here?

Once they're done, I'll sticky them and leave it at the top of the forum.

Well trolling is generally a frowned upon tatic in the forum world.

Such as " ______ vs King Kong."

How about, "New members may begin posting only when their post count reaches 200."

How about if a poster feels the need to personally insult another poster he does so only if he displays his real name?

I just joined and already I've had people saying some pretty nasty things, which is fine, i can ignore it, but it's not very adult like to say those things unless they signature the post.

Turn this......"...but do any of you cumchuggling stupid fucking jackfucks..simpleton mouthbreathing ignorant cumtwats have any idea what it takes to run 15 or 20 perfect laps on a FIM SX track? sans sean or david...or even LB you don't . ..."
Into something more like this "...but do any of you idiots/knowitalls/ have any idea what it takes to run 15 or 20 perfect laps on a FIM SX track? sans sean or david...or even LB you don't . ..."

i think the whole "cool guy" syndrome here amongst the regular posters is just getting really lame. i read the board failry often but don't post a lot. a lot of the "regulars" who seem to evaluate self-worth with post count, tend to jump on someone (or noobs) if they don't right away get some insignificant inside joke from a random "HOF" 8 page thread from like 2007.

i remember a recent example of someone making valid points and just generally trying to add a little value to the forum. people jumped all over the "noob" with stupid playground taunts. someone further in the thread mentioned the person was/is a family member of a factory rider (i think it might have been Josh Hill or someone like that...)

not sure how to make a rule against this or not GuyB, but I guess i'm just wondering if any one else notices this?

Language filter? I'm not much a fan of those.

It may be hard to believe, but motocross boards have gotten worse than video game boards! So much for the whole "motocross racers are down to earth." Good thing I didn't name the source of that one.

With that said, get rid of the dumbgeaon. nobody should be rewarded for their stupidity lasting on the internet.

No....me either. I have no poblem with reading the word fuck in any post.
I just think the "cumguzzling cumswallowing dickeating" etc. is a bit much.

I agree....there is way to much chicken shit posting on this friggin' board! If you are going to pick a fight , call people names , and just out right be a friggin' asshole about things , you should be a man enough to just not hide behind your keyboard. 1/2 of the shit talkers on this board wouldn't ever give their real name , because that's exactly what they are.....friggin' chicken shit keyboard jockeys. I get sick of the trolling around , and just down right retarded f'ing posts that wouldn't make it on any other board.

this also goes for you little punks that follow a certain person around , and jabbing him in every friggin' thread , just to get a rise out of him.

I for one.....would rather have GuyB store all the IP addresses , and real names of the people who are members and make this thing a PAYING SITE! You would get rid of all the jackass shit starters once and for all. And if they do pony up the money , they would tend to watch what they say a little more carefully.

I also think ( which i'm guilty of it to , to some extent) , is there should be certain words that should be banned from this site. There are kids that visit here to. I'm not talking about "shit , asshole and so forth.....just words like the "F" word and "C" word and some other interesting "put together words".

This is why this board gets over ramped with dick heads.....there are hare hardly no rules what so ever. And when you are on a board with no rules , and a bunch of loud mouth little shit talker.......of course things are going to get bad!

I also think , that if this place is ever going to be some place where the industry people are going to visit and post.....it has to get rid of some of the bad apples on here first. It'll do nothing but get worse!

sorry for the rant.....just sayin'.

I like the edge this place has. The noob hazing isn't rampant like it was at MD, and for the most part, it's just for fun anyway, unless a noob gets cocky, then he'll get his ass kicked! lol. I think most new members understand what it's all about and some even welcome the hazing, I know I did. I say leave that part alone.

Personal attacks are tough to filter. Where do you draw the line? Good natured ribbing can be construed as an attack. I'd like to see them toned down for sure.

I also propose as a rule, anyone caught using multiple usernames be clicked.

One username should suffice.

I can only speak for myself jtom , I no longer ride but my guess is that I have spent more time at race tracks at every level than most of those that ride today.

You write your bio serisously...people could have a field day with this...

The point is respect. Thats what rules will help. I'm all about them. How about a three warning and you are out for good rule?

"I'm a life long moto-enthusiest with more than 35 years of riding and racing under my slightly widening belt (damn you middle age!) I'm also the very proud father of 4 wonderful children ranging in age from 15-26 and have been married to the lovely Kathy for 20 (!) years. I love all things motorcycle but moto is my true passion. I raced Pro in Canada in the early 80's but alas, wine, women and song got the better of me so my "career" was a short one. In 1998 I started a motocross club in my city and ran the whole deal (including building and maintaining the track) until extreme burnout sent me packing. I spend my spare time riding with my youngest son Keenan, doing a bit of fishing and moderating the DMXS forums and chat. That's it. .........Godspeed Matt Mercier and Mark Antoniazzi......"

I would have to agree with that one>If your original user name has been clicked it happened for a reason.IP addresses are easy enough to track.

Besides I'm always looking for a new word to call someone.

Ip addresses are dynamic from your service provider. It works the same way that it does with your home router. Your router requests and IP address and it has the preference from the one it had before. IP bans are actually bad because not many people have a static IP address. All you would have to do is unplug your router for a few days, or plug your modem directly into your computer and you would have a different IP address.
