Really fast kid, was on Honda's "A Track" to the pros until Honda basically killed their Amateur program

Is or was living in a cabin at RC's house training under RC and his Mom's guidance

Pretty sure this is Les. It's like it was yesterday to me. Got more - I'm sure.

Yeah, that's Les. He rides for Kawasaki now and usually runs no. 108. I think that Honda's cutbacks were a setback for him but I'm sure he will overcome that. Les is a great kid and comes from a great family. You couldn't ask to meet nicer people.
Best of luck at Loretta's Les!!

He's a South Carolina kid I believe. I also think he didn't start getting serious about MX until he was a little older. He got a lot of press last year and from what I can tell this year is suppose to be his year.

Blazing fast and should be a front runner. Hell of a nice kid I might add with no "rockstar" attitude like some of the kids out there.

good kid with a great family behind him. Rides with his heart on his sleeve.

Hopefully he will work a deal out for the pros and transition smoothly into the pro pin

hes around our local tracks often. i tried to keep up with his pace, he was nice enough to play cat and mouse a couple times before he totally left me. chatted to him a few times off the track, him and his dad are great people and im rooting for him to do well at LL.

I guess I have about the same impression that everyone else has about Les. He is a great kid that has his act together and has the speed to be up front at LL.

I got to meet he and his mom at a private track that my son practices at and they were real nice people.
Good luck at LL Les!

So are we talking great kid like Dungey or a non-homeschooled Dungey?

The pro sport classes should be some great racing for sure. Les will be up there in the 250 class and i think Wilson will be the one to beat on the 450.

I live in the same little town that the Smith family does and I am sad to say I have never met him and would not know him if he was in front of me at Walmart. I have chatted with his mother a couple times and they are moto to the core. From what I have heard from others........Les is a good kid with his head screwed on straight......he has been training at Carmichaels for a couple years so he must have the right attitude or they would have sent him packing.

Wow! If I don't wake up in the morning, know that I died with a smile on my face and a beautiful feeling in my heart thanks to you guys! Les is a really good kid - always has been - but it doesn't mean nearly as much for his mother to say that as it does to hear it from all of you! We truly appreciate all the kind words and good wishes - and you should all know that Les has been training harder than ever to make sure he is ready when the gate drops at Lorettas. The competition is stiff, and the available rides are few - but Les puts it best when he reminds people that motocross isn't what he "does" anymore - its who he is - so believe that he will be out there fighting for a spot at the next level. He has been reading your posts today - and smiling ear to ear......what a huge confidence booster for him just when he needs it the most - THANKS!!

well, if it's any confidence booster (I don't know if he has matched up with him yet) deano looked good at millville.,..but anderson had his pace and led him a lot...

So wilson may be fast, but he is fallible! Go get em!

Loretta's is les's track! expect him to win a title or two. same goes for futrell. the only other rider i expect to do battle with these two guys is dean wilson. most west coast AM riders are not ready for the humidity or track conditions

Welcome to our nasty little part of the interweb

You and I spoke on the phone a year ago about some racing in Germany

Come by and say hello early in the week and make sure you attend the Annual KFC Chickenfest.

EVERYONE is invited to the Engine Ice/ProClean1000 hospitality area, located right next to the pool on the main road, to partake in this annual feast. There is no charge and you do not have to be sponsored by us, it is solely a social event as well as a thank you to those who do support us.

Lastly, those of you familiar with the Annual KFC Chickenfest know we usually have a post feasting bit of fun and revenge, and that is a part of the plan as always, so don't miss it.

Engine Ice/ProClean1000 KFC Chickenfest

Thursday, August 6th

During the scheduled racing lunch break (about noon)

at the Engine Ice/ProClean1000 Hospitality area

located next to the pool on the main road

Please pass this along to friends and other websites to spread the word

Yes, I'd say there are a lot of similarities between Dungey and Les Smith. Both are great young men with high morals that come from fine families that support them fully. Both families have also made a lot of sacrifices for their son's careers. I hope that Les will follow directly in Dungey's footsteps.
Also, Les just graduated high school in June and is actually enrolled in some online college courses for the fall.

Deano only hangs it out when it is an important racei.e: Whitney,Oakhill,Vegas,Ponca and Lorreta,s so that race at Millville may not be a good gauge. When it comes to Lorreta's nobody will be on Dean's pace just like Texas and World mini this year where he dominated with everybody in the class.Dean killed 450B mod at the ranch last year and put it to Barcia in the 250B stock final moto when they finaly got out the gate together.

So don't get your hopes up to much.
