Is Reed Going Home

Edited Date/Time 1/26/2012 7:49am
Just read an Interview with Josh Coppins on MX large that mentions Reed going home to race and taking the ride Josh was maybe going to take .

Don't know if the link will work

We'll have to see what happens with team budgets here.

He mentioned car racing as a possibility again last weekend...and maybe it being his last year racing moto...or not. Sounds like he's got a lot of decisions to make.

Take that big old number one plate and get on a plane with a bag of money. He's been here for the last nine or so years and been a top level competitor. Made plenty of money while James kept crashing his brains out rendering himself unable or unwilling to compete. Outside of James and RC, Reed has been damn near unbeatable for a long time. Gotta respect that. Not many others could lay claim to such a successful career. Hated to listen to him whine when he was getting beat though!

No shame to him if he does, I will just miss watching him ride and race.
He has always been one of my favorite riders, good luck to him whatever he does.

towards the end of the latest podcast, he mentioned he was excited to go after the 2010 SX championship. i think he's here for another year or two at least.

and if he leaves, he will leave as one of the most successful racers and champions the sport has ever seen.

I would hate to see him go, but wouldn't blame him if he did. Talk about taking a risk, and having it pay off.

You have to think he's seen virtually nothing of his family since he moved to Europe as a lad. Talking personally that begins to get to you after a while. Maybe he's had a tits full of that too.

he said the same thing last year. He will be back he wants to get that supercross championship back.

As a fan of both I wouldn't want to seeChad go home, but on the other hand I would love Josh Coppins to stay in the GP's for another year, I also love to watch him ride.

I hope he stays around, rides pissed off, beats James for the SX title then goes home to enjoy his life.

Would be a bitter sweet ending of his career.

I still think he should have punted James in Vegas, and after hearing James' comments after the race..I hope Reed remembers that.

I do think that the comments that James made at Vegas will fuel Reed up to come back.

If Suzuki does indeed let Reed go after this season.
I wonder what the chances are of someone like the Gibbs team digging deep down in their POCKET$ and hiring him for a season?

In a recent interview with french journalist Lebig, De Coster said that if he'd sign Pourcel for 2010, he will let Reed go ...

X2

Everyone in the room where like "WTH is wrong with James?" when James was talking after the race...everyone in the room lost a lot of respect for him after that.

Will Reed be leaving because he can't get a ride, or because he can't get a ride paying what he thinks he's worth?

The only team that will have the money to pay the same as this year is JGR. It would be nice to c Reed and Stewart battle it out on the same bike.

Really? Wow, that's interesting.

Sucks that there doesn't seem to be much loyalty in MX/SX. I understand the need to read the tea leaves, but no one can argue that Reed isn't a consistent performer. And he's about to be the premier class champ.

Is his price too high?

Between now and the start of the 2009 SX season just about nothing would surprise me as far as rider/team switches, brand switches, team contraction, new teams, etc. Once it gets moving, that a lot is going to happen in a short time.

Riding another season hoping for DNFs from another rider wouldn't look too good for him. Good luck back in Aus Skippy.

Reed has been getting his ass handed to him by Stewart since 2002. Nothing will change. Reed can't beat Stewart. Never has and never will!!!

Couldn't have said it better myself. Reed was super nice, he could have done what MA did to Short but he didn't. But after Stewart's arrogant post-race comments, he sure would have deserved it IMO.

Stewart won the championship but Reed beat him several times and more than likely will again....................or do you think it "doesn't count when he crashes"?
