Ok... besides Magoo winning all four moto's when it was still a two weekend event (Trophy & Motocross) what is the biggest clutch performance by one of our Stars and Stripes flyin boys?

That was a crazy day... one of the sloppiest races I have ever seen... the whole team rode clutch that day!

Jeff Stanton 1989? I think. Didnt he punt Pit Bierier on the last lap to take the win and the overall for USA since Bradshaw crashed out?

I am not sure of the year either but Stanton definitely took the event seriously! He was cut out of the old school mold for sure.

Johnny O on the 125 in 87 was it? Or Villy on the 250F at Buds was pretty darned special too.

No US rider will ever match the achievement's of Magoo in 1982 winning all four moto's in the Trophee & Motocross Des Nations over 2 weekends at seperate tracks.
That performance puts Magoo on another level to any rider ever chosen to represent the stars & stripes!
Godspeed Danny!

Of the mere mortals, Jeff Ward's 7 time a champion record is amazing, as was Johnny O's performance on a 125cc at Maggiora in 1986.
Ryan Villopoto's performance at Budds Creek was another benchmark!

I really like to point out RJ's ride at Unadilla in 87 also. It was so muddy and I don't think that anybody expected him to ride poorly but he flat killed it against a whole field of "mudders" from across the big pond!

Even when RV went in 2006 and won his class in England over CP and AC I think wasn't he the youngest rider to when a class overall?

86 Team. O'Show, Johnson and Bailey (not just one rider, but the team. I'm a little off topic).

Good question, for some reason I don't remember how Barnett performed when he was on the team.

I would say RV at Budds Creek and Hannah at Unadilla- I was at Unadilla and to watch Hannah on the 125 in knee deep slop was incredilble. Keep in mind he had not rode a 125 for a few years either.

What about Lamson in '96? He was jumping that huge quad thing on his 125 and doing heel clickers off of it while the Euros were crying to the officials the jump was too big and something about sand in their vaginas?Shocked

How about when RC smoked everyone including Everts by 11 seconds on his little 2-smoker in the sand in Belgium in 2003? Everts was on his factory Yamaha 4-stroke in his own country. I thought Everts was the sand king, especially in his own country in front of his King? I guess there is a reason RC is called the GOAT.

Correct me if I am wrong but wasn't it right after that performance that Ricky divulged that his knee was junk and popping out on him ocasionally?

I concur!

RV at Budds in 07 is a close 2nd. RC wouldnt even have had anything for him if he had been up front!

Ryan Villopoto showing the GREATEST OF ALL TIME the fast way around the track.

keep in mind the GOAT was sticking it to the "heir apparent" all year as well.

ps... i was there and that was the single most dominating performance i've ever seen.

Perhaps, but.an RC with one foot in retirement is a different beast than one still actively racing. Watch the tape, you can plainly see that RC was way off his game that day.

Applies to Peelout as well, if you think RC was riding as well he was capable of you are smoking too much of the RV weed.

Where did you get those pictures!

I thought Team Euro and Mccread destroyed all the negatives to claim it never happened.

On a side note RC did get his knee fixed right after that. He said it popped out 2-3 times during that race.

No, they just claim it's a team event and not about individual glory. Except in 2006.
