A thrill-seeking postman who was filmed launching his small motorbike
off a jump during the morning mail round has ended his career with a
bang.

The postie, who has since resigned from his job at
Australia Post, gave new meaning to the term "air mail" when he rode his
Honda down a suburban street in Anglesea and off a jump, soaring into
the air and losing control yesterday morning.
Mail was scattered across McMahon Avenue after the crash that left the postman, aged in his 20s, suffering scrapes and bruises.

But the postman was able to pick up his battered bike and gather the mail before continuing his morning round.

A local tradie had constructed the jump for the postman,
but those who had gathered on the street thought the postman was pushing
the envelope when he approached the ramp at speed.

One person who filmed the stunt is heard on the film saying: "How quick's he going to go? Oh f**k, slow down dude!"

The rider, wearing a high visibility postman's uniform,
then launches his bike into the air, however the Honda overbalances and
lands on its front wheel. A white vehicle parked on the street blocks
vision of the ensuing crash.

The video has been posted on YouTube and is going viral on social networking sites this morning.

"We built a jump for the postie and he hit it hard didn't
turn out so well for the postie or the bike," the description on the
YouTube video says.

The tradie had only met the postie the day before he performed the gravity-defying stunt.

"He came past on his bike and was trying to do stunts for us," he told The Age.

"Then we met him later down the street and he said we
could probably build him a jump. We told him there would be a jump there
for him in the morning."

He said the postie had made plans to go overseas when he performed the stunt.

"He was a bit in shock from his stack. He had a lot to say, he was fairly shaken up."

The postman declined to comment to the Geelong Advertiser when approached at his home last night. He told the newspaper he was not badly hurt in the crash.

The postman is believed to have told his employer,
Australia Post contractor David Wilson, that he had hit a kangaroo on
his mail run.

Mr Wilson only learned of the stunt when he was approached by the Advertiser.

"There's a scrape on top of the light and damage to the
bag. I had to straighten the frame of the bike, so there's no serious
damage, but I'm not happy about it," he told the newspaper.

The postman could face criminal charges over the incident.

Not in my area. Most walk or drive mail truck and park it then walk the block.

Looks like a CT90 or 110. Yeah, you can't jump those things like that, especially of a tiny BMX ramp. He's lucky he didn't meet Darwin's full wrath.
