There brutal if not diagnosed properly and treated when you have one. I think anyone who rides should be doing some sort of base line test (ie Impact) so you have something to refer to as a baseline when you suspect you might have one.
You can rehab your brain after one most of the time, but it takes time and patience.

serous note ; for next 12-24 hours don't sleep any longer than 30 - 45 min at a time and have someone check on you so you don't slip into a coma but it normally take a pretty big hit for that to happen
We were told at our last visit to the emergency room, that waking someone up every 30 min after a concussion is considered the old way of thinking, as it will not prevent a coma, If the body is going into a coma nothing is stopping it. Just monitor periodically so if they do go into a coma they can be taken to hospital for care. Rest is very important for the body and brain to heal itself so waking up every 1/2 hour can be counter productive.
Also please research or have someone else find information on 'Second Impact Syndrome' before returning to sport.
Take it easy.
I'll stick to my local doctor over people on vital everyday of the week.
I'm lucky enough to have never had one.

Once again, there's probably some good people on here with good/accurate medical advice (there's some doctors, etc), but to say rando moto guys know more than doctors is ridiculous. If I need some tips on jetting my bike, I'll come here. If I need advice on medical treatment, I'll go to my doctor.
I was trying to point op towards some information here that helped me a lot on my sons year long journey that ended up in neurosurgery. If anybody is going through that feel free to pm me I learned a lot. We even took his helmet in and met with Bob and the guys down at 6D, some of the nicest most caring guys in the industry.
btw excellent contribution to this thread, good job.
When I have one? I feel foggy. Memory is worse than normal.
In short? I'm not a fan.
