When you own the track you can do with it what you please. While I don’t like it as well, not sure he would care about his “stock” with people he doesn’t know lol. He paid the money for the property, if he wants to close it completely and let it grow into weeds it’s his right. At least I think it still is?

The thing is, he took one of the only good family facilities around Charlotte, hyped up that he was buying it on social media (in typical Chad fashion) and closed it after a year, ultimately leaving us with one less place to ride. Reminds me of the South Park episode where Cartman buys the amusement park just to ride the rides by himself, lol.

If he wanted a private track for himself and his kids, he could’ve built one anywhere in NC, without buying an existing facility just to shut it down.
I live ten minutes from a junk track in pa we don’t even go to anymore. We travel 1.5 hours to our closest “good” track. Like I said I get it, it sucks. However it’s HIS track to do with what he pleases. Get some buddies around start your own business and buy a track. Kinda weird to get pissed at someone who uses their own property how they choose. Like I said, we were looking forward to riding there again as well but shit happens.

How was the turnout from the public when it was open?

When it first opened there was a huge crowd, it was super hyped up.

The last time I went it was still really good but definitely not quite as busy. Their advanced track never has divided practice, I've probably ridden there a dozen times in the last year and I don't think I ever saw more than 10 people on the advanced track at one time.

Most people ride the trails and the "intermediate" track though. Summer of 2021 they had week day practices...seemed like they were really amped up but that kind of faded away.

From what was on their website The old facility was a local car dirt track oval that had some ATV trails. In the 20 years I have lived in Charlotte I never bothered going there and I was not surprised that they closed.

Sadly with my shoulder and knee I never went up but everyone liked the tracks. Especially Vet riders!

I agree with you except that his whole (current) livelihood is based on keeping "his stock" relevant to people he doesn't know, LOL.
If it wasn't, they would be in the social media business.

Checked the latest comments on Moto40’s last IG post, and someone claims to have heard that they sold the land to a real estate developer. Makes sense if he’s moving to FL. Anyone else know more? If so, that sucks.

Some of you dudes can say “it’s his money, his land, he can do what he wants with it!” And you’re entirely right. But I guarantee if someone bought out one of your favorite local spots and flipped it for a developer to build a neighborhood on it, you’d probably be bummed about it too.

We did. Ours sold to a landscaper that decided to grow avocado's. It was his money and his track so he could do whatever he wanted and did. Bummer? Yes. But nothing we could do about it.

Fucking douchebag move by 22. The moto community is small and there are already a limited number of places for us to actually ride. He comes in buys a public track, closes it, then sells the land and leaves? Honestly probably one of the worst things you could possibly to do effect this sport and our community. The guy is a rich, disconnected asshole who doesn't really give a fuck about the people in this sport. Never has.

It’s total BS someone bought land with their own money and did what they wanted with it. It’s…it’s….illegal or it should be! Mind blowing how people believe they are owed shit from other people. You don’t like what someone did with their own property they bought with their money, here’s what you do. 1. Make money. 2. Buy land. 3. Build track. 4. Shut the fuck up.

I'm not so sure if this is true or not. The right-of-way going into the track is very narrow pinched between crop fields, one home and I-40. Unless there is another right-of way-coming from the west side of the property, it would be about impossible to have a development of any kind going in there unless the buyers bought the adjoining properties which could very well have happened as well.

Also, there are major power line towers going right through the property which would cause an issue with a large amount of the property for development. I hope this is just another rumor, but it wouldn't surprise me if the property was sold. I'll miss the track workers there. Super cool dudes.

Really just wanted to know what the future holds for the place, their last IG post said they were “taking some time off, and will be announcing future plans soon” but that was months ago, and it appears that Reed moved out... Hate speculating off a comment left on IG, that’s why I bumped the thread to see if anyone else in-the-know here could maybe speak on what’s going on.

That’s interesting if the plan for Moto40 was never long-term though, a lot of their posts early on spoke of how committed they were to making the place one of the best facilities in the area, just figured it would’ve been around a little longer.

True.

Anyone investing is this land for anything other than a track, corn field or Trailer Park, is an idiot.

Yea it is not a prime spot for building pretty much anything. There is a steep ravine on the south side and no real right-a-away from the east. It backs up to some type of huge warehouse to the West side. The huge power line towers are pretty much through the middle of the flattest part of the property, and you have the constant I-40 traffic noise that would be a menace to anything built on the ridge next to the interstate.

I can always hope that whoever buys it would be a moto-guy and do something for the riders in the area but probably just dreaming. Luckily, within a sixty-mile radius of that place there are enough tracks to supply the riders with some pretty cool riding. I did love the Wednesday practice sessions though the summer there.

Yes. Some guys bought a track.
Wanted Chad to help design the place.
Chad was offered a buy-in.
