From MXA:

CANADA VOTES NO TO 250 TWO-STROKES IN THE 250 CLASS BECAUSE THE 250 CLASS IS NO PLACE FOR 250s

Here are the new Canadian motocross rules direct from CMCR’s Mark Stallybrass: “After much discussion, feedback and debate regarding the proposed amendment to the displacement rule for the MX2 class in regards to two-strokes, following is the change that will be made for the 2012 season:

(1) For the Amateur MX2 classes only, the maximum displacement for two-strokes will be increased to 250cc. The two-stroke displacement rule for the MX1 class will not change, therefore Amateurs may compete in both the MX2 and MX1 classes with a 250 two-stroke motorcycle.

(2) Intermediate ranked riders will be permitted to compete in the MX2 Pro/Am class at CMRC Nationals with a 250cc motorcycle.

(3) The maximum displacement for two-strokes in the Pro class will not increase, and will remain at 153cc. This rule will be consistent with that of the AMA.

It's funny how MXA says these rules will be consistent with the AMA, but the AMA only allows up to 125cc 2-strokes in the 250F class. If only we could get it to 150cc!

Its kind of weird. As I understand it intermediates will be able to race the MX2 Pro/Am class on 250 2TS but any rider holding a Pro License will not.

The last thing a Japanese 250f manufacturer wants is a top 5 guy on a 250 2 stroke in any professional lites race.

Yeah, but what about a 150? Obviously, the Canadians allow it. I know I know, here we go again. It's just bullsh-t. No one has any bal-s.

This could be quite an opportunity for some fast intermediate riders. If I'm reading this correctly it means that some hot B riders from that States or Canada for that matter can sign up at a Canadian National for the MX2 class and ride a 250 2-stroke. Interesting. I can see some of the Pros not being too happy about this. Good way to create more interest in the class though.

it's even bigger bullshit that people keep asking the same questions over and over hoping for a different answer.

No wait let me bang my head against the wall and ask again, nope didn't work I still don't get it.

Get over it already, for now the 2 stroke is not coming back.

I'll ask it, say it, petition it, burn it into the ground as many times as I want until everyone gets tired of hearing it, and then I'll do it some more.

And its equally bigger bullshit when people ask these same questions, the same guys get on the thread bitching about the said question asking.

Get over it already, some people like 2-strokes and want them around and will post about it on forums.

Its "CMRC" canadian motorsport racing club. I find it strange that they are allowing intermediates to ride 250 two strokes while the Pros have the 153cc limit rule. Its a step in the right direction tho. Wish i was intermediate that would be a fun chance, especially on the starts going against modded 250fs!

The state of moto in Canada is bleak , I would not look towards them to maverick any new policies unless it's completely backwards.

I had an 04 250sx and it did hit hard but I'm all off road these days and the sand here seems to mellow things out (read less hook up) hence being still alive with a 500af.

My son is 6ft 1in about 205 and he rides a yz125 pretty good.

If I was bigger I'd go with the 250SX, but at 5'6'' 170, the 150SX would be the bike for me. Man, I can't imagine have a brand new one of those. I get a head rush thinkin about it.

I actually received the first reply ever from MXA, when i told them they had made a mistake on 153cc being the same as the AMA. They said it was a direct press release and to contact Mark Stallybrass with the CRMC. Never heard of the guy.

Better than nothing, great for someone like me. This means I can race my KTM250 at a pro national now.... gotta get a lot faster first though. Too bad they nixed the Morden round.

Not sure if it's too much bike??

I've seen you ask or ponder that before. Coming off a 450, why on earth would you think a 250 SX would be too much bike? You'll probably be wanting the 300 kit right off the bat. But the 250SX, PC McGrath pipe and Dick's carb mod sounds like a bad ass bike to me.

Bleak is an understatement. This is the big improvement for the year. Grasping at straws perhaps? Ah, ya. The rule doesn't even read clearly. Sounds like it was done during happy hour while drinking and lamenting about the current state of mx in Canada. "I know! Lets make up a really vague rule about 250 2 strokes racing with 250 four strokes, sort of! That ought to hold everyone off for another year..."
