You lose a shroud bolt that is 6mm with a 8mm head.

Your dealer gives you the "Oh God 360" look when you try to order a single bolt and of course they don't stock them.

Home Depot and local hardware stores have metric bolts but all of the the 6mm's have 10mm heads. Now you gotta use 2 different wrenches to take stuff apart.

Is there a cool place out there anywhere to buy regular metric motorcycle bolts?

Thats one thing we have always tried to have in stock. A good selection of nuts and bolts.

I can't stand having mismatched bolts on bikes. I can't even stand to lose a front fender bolt and not have the right bolt and stepped washer back in it and crap you can't even see whats under the fender.

Glad to hear you are a dealer and actually think about stuff like this.

My kid gave me a 25.00 gift cert for our local Honda dealer last X-mas and I still have it.
It is so hard to go in to delaers and get stuff like this.

Most big cities around here have an Automotive Fasteners. We also have one here called Southern Fasteners. Both are just big hardware wholesalers with a store front.

Find a dealer that doesn't roll eyes. I order individual bolts all the time (though I usually get several at a time, not just one)

I bought about $500.00 worth of metric nuts, bolts and washers from Winzer. All different diameters of 6mm washers also. Always needing hardware for building old bikes and the stuff from the hardware store never looked correct.

Yes, they are a great dealership. Donnells Motorcycles in Kansas City. You wont find a better dealership that stocks MX gear and parts anywhere in the midewest better than Bart at Donnells.

Everyone needs a good metric bolt kit. techbolt makes a nice kit with 6mm thread and 8mm heads. I bought the big one, and when I get low you can by refill kits of specific sizes.

Tek bolt and Cycra both make the right sized metric bolt kits as well.

I bought a set from Rocky mountain a couple years ago ....cause my old KX would rattle the bolts out ALL the time, I think it was under $15 for 100+ 6mm/8mm head bolts various lengths. One of the better investments to have around.

you guys are funny. I've never seen a 6X1 bolt without a 8mm head.

you could just buy all new ones with 10 heads if it bothers you that bad. im sure you need your 8 and 10 when taking the bike apart regardless.

You must be fairly new to this then?? Mid 80's on back, 10mm head was the norm on dirt bikes. Lift the hood on any Japanese car, you'll see plenty. That's about all that holds them together.
