That is Jeff Ward's C&J framed XR75. Super trick bike, but the YZ80's and RM80's were putting an end to his dominance in the mini class. That's when Jeff's dad went to C&J and had the scaled down frames built for the Mini Elsinore's. That's what I get worked up over. Here's a few pics of mine, most of you have probably already seen them, but they go with the original post.

Here is the other one that we built to actually race. I'll admit it ,we did not sleeve this one down to 100CC. Of course Mini Dads existed back in 1976 and many of the kids running these bikes had .080 over 125 cylinders on their bikes as well! The forks on this one were not shortened and actually look more normal on the mini than they did on the full size 74-75 CR125's. Works Performance built the billett alloy bodied shocks for it. T&M head, PVL electronic ignition, stock 75 CR125 cylinder, 32mm Mikuni and an FMF pipe. This thing is scary fast for its size and the 7 / 6 inch suspension travel. 16 inch rear wheel and a 17 front to make it mini class legal laced to stock CR125 hubs. The silver NOS Preston Petty Mini Muder put the finishing touch on it.

Jeff Ward Racing Products ad from Minicycle BMX Action Magazine in 1976. A new YZ80 would set you back less than $500.00. One of these, a cool two grand. All the rich kids had to have two of them. Myself, just stuck the pages of the magazine together drooling over one. That whole mid life thing kicked in though and I searched out quite a few of them to restore.

Those are fightin' words with the XR75 nuts! Smile As for the Mini Elsies, as a kid back then it would have been the equivilent of having Marty Smiths factory works Honda. Today from a collectible standpoint, 12-15 grand a pop might be what's so nice about them old pos JWRP bikes.

For the XR nuts, here's one I helped out on with the paint work and a few other items. A friend of mine built this one up with the help and donations from a lot of people around the US to donate to the David Bailey benefit a few years back. Mike Metzger, Andrew Short's wife and Dana K were a few of the bidders who worked it up over 9 grand before Dana took it home.

WRM. Rode the GPs 2005? Seems like a failure. Nice try though, and people like this are the ones that makes things evolve!.
