Crashed at a practice track today, looks to have a broken neck and back...and yes he was wearing a Leatt.

I think a little more information about the conditoin of Brandon may have been in order before you post things like "looks to have".

Brandon Mays suffered a pretty serious practice crash today. He has 100% feeling in all of his body, and despite having to receive surgery, he will have a 100% recovery. Our best goes out to Brandon and the Mays Family.

Also
Unfortunately, more on the injured list.
Dean Wilson suffered a dislocated hip earlier in the week, and looks as if he will be out for about 3 months.

Our rider Christian Craig broke his wrist last weekend, it's more a fracture than a break. He will have a hard cast for 2 weeks and a soft for another 2 weeks. He should be good to go for Whitney, if not Oak Hill for sure.

These kids are really pushing it now days and more and more major injuries are happening, it's very sad.

Not the first, wont be the last. Said before, the Leatt is a step in the right direction. Not the saving grace as originally expected. Was the first helmet as good as the ones we have now? Boots? Revisions need to be made. We can only hope competition breeds this quickly.

Brandon, get well soon. Chicks dig scars!

Get well soon Brandon! Our prayers are with you! Hope to see you ripping it up again soon!

I'm glad he was wearing the Leatt. That's two C-spine breaks that I know of where a rider was wearing the Leatt, and had 100% feeling after the crash, and are diagnosed to make a full recovery! Quinten Bigelow is the other, he crashed hard at the Mini-O's. The Leatt may not stop all of the fractures from occuring, but it apparently is helping disperse the force enough to stop cord damage and that is what causes paralysis!!!

kawa38, was he at MTF or one of the other local tracks?

That's what I figured when huckster said "someone's sand track". Chuck's is the only real sand track in the area.

Anyway, good the hear the surgery went well, and he'll make a full recovery!!

Keep your chin up Brandon!!!

Not arguing, just asking, but how often did we hear of broken necks and backs before the Leatt?

We can never know what would be the outcome of a horrendous crash like this had Brandon NOT been wearing a Leatt, and thank God for that! I still believe they work.

Not arguing? Why else would you put up a post like this then? Give it up man, they work.

For the record though, if you ever decide to ride again, I support your right to stick your head in the sand (or elsewhere) and not wear one.

Actually, I've said many times I would wear one.

Point to my question was/is, do we seem to hear about more of these types of injuries recently?
Is it due to people being more aware or conscience of it or is it happening more often?

Sorry to disappoint those of you who thought otherwise.
