You mean like this one? Just rode with it yesterday.

I love my A-Stars Helmets, I have a bunch of them - But I can't feel the weight difference between the composite SM-8 and the all carbon SM-10.

This helmet fits well and stays cool in the summer, cant complain...

I wish Astar would be less conservative with color and offer these SM10's with brighter color schemes. Their red is not a bright red, more of a blood red. Same with their yellow and orange. If they offered these with Flo yellow, Flo Red, or Flo orange I would buy another one. Take note Astar, and take a gander at some of TLD's bright color schemes.

Does the MIPS seem well implemented in the S10? Can you feel it move much?

It’s the gen 4 Mips which is in a Lycra sleeve. You don’t feel it or hear it.

hmm, they may have changed that. back when they intro'd in '18 it was supposed to be two angles.

No you’re right, originally that was what they were going to do but they never ended up doing it.

Weight difference between DOT versions of M10 and M08 is only about 20 grams. If you can find an ECE M10 it should be quite a bit lighter. M10 does come with a carry bag and an extra visor so the cost difference is not that much if you figure those additions in.

I like my M10 a lot. I am on my third year with it. It cools relatively well. It is louder than a Fly Formula which is a really quiet helmet, but the Astars has a little more clearance with my face so it is easier to use a drink tube during a race. The liner has 3 height positions front and rear so you can not only adjust how high the helmet sits on your head but also the angle it sits at. The only two complaints I have is the crown liner snaps tore part way out of the replaceable part pretty easily on mine however it still seems to stay in place. The other complaint is the vents on the front that don't have mesh let some roost/dust in. The Fly had a screen there and it stopped some dirt. On the other hand it must be flowing more air through the chin bar. I also have to pull out the small, flexible roost deflector on top of the chin bar so it doesn't hit my goggles but that depends on the goggles. Goggles (Prospect and Armega) fit a little better than they did in the Fly.

How does the fit on this compare to the Shoei and 6D? Shoei fits me perfect, the 6D sits too high on my head.

For future buyers. Do not use the sm5 for a fit test of a sm8/10 They do not cross over. Sm5 runs a touch tighter. Ordered a sm8 medium and it is a touch loose on the top of my head and forehead. Astars seems to think the thicker check pads will fix this but looks like I might have a brand new sm8 for sale soon.

Fixed my post. Yeah it's a little loose even with using the adjustment that this helmet gives you. Which is pretty damn cool. After having this one to mess around with I can see other manufacturers coming out with similar adjustments.

There is a Torx screw inside the chin vent-take that out and pull off the upper guard on the nose area so you can actually get goggles in and out. If you notice pretty much all their riders do the same thing. That Torx screw just sandwiches in that rubber piece.
