Interesting to see how the track rides - looks like they've done lots of work to it over the past couple of weeks, taking a stone crusher round the entire circuit to de-stone it.

The last time we've had a GP (apart from the MXON) at Maggiora was 2015. Didn't know it was that long ago! Lots of rain, but still some good racing.

Febvre won that GP, with a bend handlebar after a hard crash in moto 2. Strijbos won that moto passing Nagl in the final lap, which was unfortunately one of his final races where he showed his true potential of being a race winner. Cairoli was riding the entire weekend with a hurt/broken hand sustained during qualifying, which affected the rest of his season.

MX2
Tonkov won his first ever moto in moto 1. In 2013 he had that famous finish line crash incident, which had him disqualified/places docked. Vurbmoto had that one on camera. Second moto he made a 'questionable' move on Jonass, which resulted in a crash for both riders and a ruined win/podium. Herlings won moto 2, but Gajser the GP.

Yes, big bummer for the kid. I really like his story and his succes.

I know they don’t give about this, but mayby the good thing about all this is if he not wins the title this year he still can compete 2 more years in MX2. If he wins the title in 22 and 23...

Him riding already the MXGP next year is super crazy if he ends up winning the title.

Not sure what's the status on his injury but if he can get some points tomorrow and be fully fit at round 4 I think he still has a good chance at the title considering Geerts is in a similar position. He's "only" 29 points down after missing one out of two rounds.

Watching the MX2 qualifying, and we've got JT$ commentating with Paul Malin.

They work so well together, I hope they'll both be in the booth for the whole day.

Malin is a Master at his job, most times doing entire weekends by himself, but when you have someone like JT$ working with him, it brings the commentary to an incredible level.
