-I put Ferrandis at number 4 seeing as he ran that single digit back in the GP's and should be available, but he could also be keeping the 14.
-Shane McElrath didn't score the 25 points necessary to keep his number, but should be able to keep it due to injury.
-I left 13 vacant since it rarely gets assigned.
-I left Justin Cooper with 32 even though he expressed that he wanted 14 last year.
-I put Colt Nichols at 14 as he already said he likes that number. It could change if Ferrandis keeps it or Cooper takes it.
-I left Jett Lawrence with 18 as it's believed that he'll be keeping it.
-Chad Reed could in theory keep the 22 for another year, so that could also change things.
-I put Jo Shimoda at 47 as that was his amateur number.
-I put Hunter Lawrence at 96 since that's what he ran in the GP's.

I wonder whether Jett would take #49 or go to a single digit.

Does 250 SX points count? Josh Osby had 111 in SX East, shouldn’t he be on there?

Yeah. 250 SX champions have been eligible for a 2 digit career number for several years now.

I glanced through the first list, you forgot Kessler at 27 points, and Stepek would be in front of me. Stepek and Kessler have better moto finishes than I do, so I would technically be 91 on your list

I'll fix that. I think I put you ahead of them because I believe you scored 27 points across 6 SX races in the 450 class while Stepek scored 27 points in MX across 7 races. Tie breaker I believe is the least amount of races to achieve the most points.

Kessler scored 27 points in MX in 6 races spread across 450 (22pts) and 250 (5pts).

So I think it should be You, Stepek, Kessler.

Yeah I wish! But it’s best moto finish. They have a better moto finish than me. I think Stepek was a 16, Kessler had a 16, and I had a 17. So I lose the tie break. At least that is what AMA told me last week.

Regardless, pretty cool to still get a 2 digit after completely blowing it all SX season. Working to make sure that doesn’t happen again 😂😂

That's seems a bit odd to me. IMO, less races with more points should get their number assigned first, but I'm not the AMA.

I'll move you guys around the order.

Quick question for you. As someone who lines up, do you prefer career numbers or run what you earn?

Personally, I prefer the run what you earn system. Gives racers something to chase and improve on year to year.

It might not seem like a big deal, but I'm sure there's a lot of racers that would be proud to score enough point to run the 99. I think cracking the top 100 is a pretty big accomplishment in itself.

Dylan told me yesterday afternoon that he was going to stick with 14. He doesn’t think number four is available and he doesn’t like either of the other number options.

Hmm, I’m a bit torn. I think it’s cool to have a 2digit number, but at the same time it’s really hard to brand yourself when it changes every year (for riders like myself, excluding the top guys with career numbers)

I would personally rather everyone run what they want to run, like the GP’s. I would probably go to 312 for my birthday, I would like to have 12 as it was my number for literally my whole life until I went into the pro ranks, but yeah that would be my first choice.

I'm fully For Run what you earn all the way through from #1 back I think it should go even further back, maybe top 200
If there are enough pro riders to warrant it, why not earn a 100 or 101 etc.

My question is is it best to Do a combined number system between MX/SX grand championship type like is done now I believe for guys that Don't have a career number, or would it be best to have Earned numbers Separately in SX and MX
Than it would be run your exact Earned number from previous Sx/mx season which I think would be cool for the fans, and the riders both.
If you have a high number and your running up front it would just be cool imo

So, would he take 4 if it's available? Sounds like he's sticking with 14 only because he thinks 4 won't be available for the taking.

I can put him at 14, but I'll have to put Nichols somewhere else. No idea what his amateur number was. Colt45 is pretty cool.

Colton Facciotti ran that up here.

I can put him at 14, but I'll have to put Nichols somewhere else. No idea what his amateur number was. Colt45 is pretty cool.

Colton Facciotti ran that up here.
He said he's won championships with 14 so that's what he likes. It didn't sound like he was interested in 4.

It sounded like he was happy with what he has now.

Dylan told me yesterday afternoon that he was going to stick with 14. He doesn’t think number four is available and he doesn’t like either of the other number options.

Dylan Finished 7th in points in The supercross series So would you think it would be Goid if He Ran #7 in the 2022 SX series and the #1 in the 2022 450 Series next yr?
Did anyone remember that He Finished 7th in the SX series? I didn't personally I had to look it up, but if he lined up at Anaheim with the #7 on his bike I would remember immediately.
That's what I think should happen.
If that where the Case AP would be #5 in 2022 SX

Why does Colt get a career number? 250 sx champ?

Yeah. 250 SX champions have been eligible for a 2 digit career number for several years now.
250 sx champs do not earn a career number unless they also finish in the top ten overall points

You're wrong it changed I think at the end of 2017.

250 Regional champions can choose a 2 digit career number. That's how Justin Hill got the 46.

He won the 250SX West title in 2017 with 202 points. He then scored 110 points outdoors for a total of 312 points for the year.

I guarantee you that wasn't enough to put him in the top 10 combined points for the year.
