I love seeing old videos of these guys riding. There are two things that always come to mind when I do watch. 1) those guys were hauling on those bikes. 2) the suspension the bikes now are a miles better.

Is that all loose rock on the surface? Must be hell on tires.

Some of others riders were Ronnie Tichnenor #23, the Suzuki with the pink Jersey looks like Ty Davis, and Dehoop had 37 on his jersey but no # on the bike. Honda #875-Greg Bowen or one the Beckington brothers from Michigan maybe?

Yeah but NOTHING sounds as good as a factory two stroke.

The SMELL and sound are the only thigs I miss from 2-strokes! I raced 2 strokes for 20 years. I got my first 4 stroke in 2004. After and hour on the 4 stroke, I was 8 seconds a lap faster on my own outdoor track. I went from 2:58 -3:01 lap times to consistantly 2:50 -2:53 on the 4 stroke.

MX/SX are hard enough as it is. Calling someone stupid or lazy for preferring a 4 stroke over a 2 stroke is just idiocy in itself. To say you were rather race the 2 stroke for 30 min + 2 because it is harder than doing it on a 4 stroke is just hillarius. Kind of like saying, "yeah, let's swim upstream so we will tire out faster"! I have always heard "Work smart, not hard"!

This is a 1988 video, not 2010 or 4 stroke technology of today now.

2 45 min motos on antiquated machinery.....imagine the short travel machines we around or over 50 yrs old raced on.....That's when World 500 GPs were so tough and you turned the throttle on farther when you started swapping....and sure anyone could cut their lap times down on a 4 banger; golly, you got frames and suspensions that compliment the motors, not the motors so powerful the frames twisted most everytime you opened the twist grip. Those bikes took skill and guts to race whether locally or especially Nationally/World 500s. Big time.

Thanks JB19. Nice video and sounds of the sport.

8 seconds a lap in 2004? ....................Then you were doing something wrong.

J.Sloan AND BobbyM are both back. Thank GOD! This place was getting pretty boring with out them. And I need to go get another shot of Jack Daniels(Tm). The fact I am grateful BobbyM is back means I need to get drunker. Or quit drinking. Whatever.

Grrrr! Didn't notice the start date on this. F@%K! Now I'm goin to get a shot of J.D. to console myself. Damnit! Said I wouldn't drink before breakfast. Although, technically, J.D. being a grain product, like cereal, it COULD be breakfast. Aw, wtf, stop overthinking it and go enjoy, I always say.
