Hi all,
I've decided to bring more fun back to riding and found a sweet deal on a new 2016 TC125. Pretty excited!!
Problem is, I got hurt (dislocated shoulder) before i even got to ride the bike so will be spending some time (and money) getting the bike setup. Some people will say I need to ride it before i start making changes but i'm not reinventing the wheel here.
Already have on order:
Bills pipe and Silencer
Graphics kit
Carbon Pro skid plate (protect that white paint)
Seatcover
Flo yellow front fender/plate
Whilst i am laid up for a bit, i'm thinking i'll get some head work done (porting and squish). Any thoughts or experiences on the 2016+ ktm/husky 125s and getting this done? will be running on C12/pump fuel mix.
CV forks are getting re-valved and re-sprung.
Airbox mods - anyone have any tips on this?
Any tips or advice with this bike would be greatly appreciated.

I've read a few first hand experiences with the F1 Moto powervalve arms and might just wait for some more R & D on those.
I've always wanted a modded 125 so thats why i'm wanting to do the headwork so badly. childhood dream! Workshop thinks the porting will add some more over rev will doing their squish settings (for pump/race gas) will add some low end. Sounds ideal!
I'm going to do the same hole setup as the Rockstar team, seen some team 125's done and looks like the holes are exactly the same on the left side. I'm curious if anything gets done inside the actual airbox or on the right side internally.

Luxon 4-Post Bar Mounts
$189.95 - $239.95
DeCal Works Huge Plastic Inventory of UFO and Polisport kits.
I did the hole on my KTM, you don't need to do anything else inside the airbox.
I run 50/50 C12 and 91 pump.
FMF Fatty with FMF shorty really helped the bottom end. I also tuned the power valve adjustment until I was happy with the delivery/over rev. 1/4 turns makes a world of a difference.
I've been running Cone Valve forks on mine, but decided to run my 4CS yesterday to give them a shot again. They aren't bad but not compare to the stability and front end traction the CVs offer.
I'd wait on the F1 arms until you ride the bike, see if you have any problem.
Have you thought about doing head work or heard of good results?
The difference with the husky is the plastic/CF sub frame, its pretty much sealed. i have heard of people doing something to the right side of the airbox, internally.
I put a Lectron carb on mine and pretty happy with the setup. It took a little bit of tuning but now it's pretty much dialed in for all conditions and elevations.
In 3rd gear and on the pipe this bike feels just as fast as a 250f. And I know it's really spendy but the Hinson clutch is night and day different on rear end traction
Heres my TC125. Waiting on some backgrounds right now. I bought the husky power parts FMF muffler and before i bought it i called husky to make sure i was getting the shorty. They confirmed and said the new shorty for the 16 is now a 2 bolt design but now that i looked it up in husky they're calling it a powercore. In 16 it was just called the FMF mx silencer and didn't give further description
I've actually spoken with FMF about their Ti 2.1 and they only offer one 2.1 silencer for the TC125 and it's 2 bolt. Which is strange as i was almost certain i'd seen a 'Shorty' 2.1 option on their site not long ago, and there is TC125s out there which have the 1 bolt version.
I'm gonna grab the normal Shorty silencer for now and see how i get on with it, then if i decide to throw the cash at a 2.1 i'll check my options then.
A guy I follow on Instagram little inspiration for you... nicest tc125 I've seen, I like the look of the ktm front fender and cycra stadium plate good combo
Good luck with the build will be following
The parts are starting to arrive
Already have the seat cover installed, flo front fender and plate have turned up and graphics getting printed.
CV forks are getting .44 springs installed with new valving.
I'm waiting on the bills pipe and silencer before I give the bike to the engine builder.
Pit Row
Has anyone had any experience with vortex ignitions on the latest generations ktm/husky 125s? 2016+?
I've seen the improvement on a buddy's 2007 yz125 once, pretty impressive on that particular bike.
I'm thinking about doing mine at the first top end service too, if I can wait that long.
Got some work done on the weekend with the parts I've got so far.
I should be getting the graphics and revalved CV forks this week. Biggest delay (apart from my shoulder) is going to be my BTO order, waiting for my Bills pipes system.
Graphics kit turned up. Started installing the stickers to some of the original white plastics I had but still waiting for the remaining white plastics I've ordered.
Unfortunately, the flo yellow graphics are way off... quite dull compared to the flo plastic. Hard to see in the photo but quite drastic in person. I have two front end designs for this bike, one flo yellow, one white. White is looking to be the winner at this rate.
I've also opened up be airbox on the rIght side as I've heard this helps getting air into the airbox. I'll also do the left side plate.
I'm looking into doing the ceramic coatings for the outer clutch case, water pump, brake calipers and mounts. Seen moto120's build and looks trick.
I still have a few weeks before I can ride with my shoulder.
And man JC....I'm really digging that flo yellow on your bike! Looks sharp!! I may look into something like that color as well when I decide to go away from the stock look.
Thanks for the kind words. The fluro yellow really pops in person.
Pro carbon were very easy and efficient to deal. Shipping was pretty reasonable too, about $14USD to Australia from the UK.
