typhoon67 Added a reply to New CRF motor?
6/5/2011 9:52pm Honda did not pioneer any of these, nor did Yamaha or KTM, these were done before any of these companies began making motorcycles......you guys all have tunnel vision, you cant see beyond the rising sun....the Japanese invented nothing, they took other companies inventions and copied them.....that whole list....and if you really knew motorcycles and there history you wouldnt be making...

6/3/2011 9:52am Yamaha copied 26 different manufacturers when they did the reverse/offset cylinder deal, even Honda had a 5 valve head in 1983.......dont think for a minute that any japanese company has come up with a new idea that wasnt thought of 30-90 years prior.....they are the originasl copycats....exhaust power valves, linkage suspension, reverse cylinders, floating discs, radial calipers, upside down forks, floating...

typhoon67 Added a reply to Piston adwise 2 stroke
7/19/2010 7:17am When detonation occurs in a hi performance 2 stroke engine pistons do not "break" or "crack", they melt.........and will blow holes in the dome, cast and forged melt at almost the same temperature so a forged will not resist detonation damage any better than cast.........tensile strength is not the issue......engineering 101. Silicone is added to cast pistons to control growth...

7/18/2010 10:01pm This was my statement: "it has not got better strength regarding detonation" so yes there is greater durability, greater "cracking" resistance, and more strength....but this strength does not give it any more detonation damage resistance.

typhoon67 Added a reply to Race fuel seized up my bike???
7/18/2010 9:42am Yes the aircraft do have mixture controls, but the fuel is specially formulated for this environment........

7/18/2010 9:36am okay, what happened to Bobby??? I seem to be out of the loop....was he banished? Bobby should always be here....with a Maico too.
typhoon67 Added a reply to Race fuel seized up my bike???
7/18/2010 9:26am avgas is designed for FIXED THROTTLE/HIGH ALTITUDE use, the blend they use is not good for varied throttle use. Most race fuel is not corrosive, the environment you are storing the machne is likely more to blame. Always drain fuel from carb/tank after each use, especially if pump gas, the ethanol will gel in a couple weeks.....and ethanol does retain...

7/18/2010 9:13am Detonation is going to damage any piston, forged is a more dense material and will wear longer, it has not got better strength regarding detonation.....this issue must be corrected (jetting, timing, fuel quality) or a failure will result no matter what type piston is used....never use either more than 50 hours. 2 strokes do not like pump gas.....
typhoon67 Added a reply to Showa Shock Compression Adjuster Removal
11/8/2009 9:13am your bladder is probably fine, the leak could be at the schrader valve....you know that when you "check" the pressure that you lose around 50% of the charge engaging the pressure gauge right? In 35 years I have only seen a bladder fail in a Fox Airshox, never in any other shock. You may be best off having a pro...

4/17/2016 6:45pm Have you ever been to Bercy? the only similarity to US SX is dirt and the machines....the atmosphere, the program, the layout, the match-ups and schedule of heats and other events is like no other race, plus they are racing underground!......James is a huge draw to those who would not normally ever get to see him and the way they...

typhoon67 Added a reply to 08 KX250F - low compression, won't start
4/17/2016 6:44pm You can do a cranking pressure test (compression) on modern 4 stroke, you first have to remove the valve cover and wire the decompressor disengaged, then do your test, but a leakdown is much more accurate. As for valves leaking a drop or so....they should leak nothing in 5 minutes, not even a weep in one hour....this must be a...
