I wonder how Barcia's incident and his resultant interview(s) will affect his sponsorships? In a world where all publicity is good publicity, the crowd at Rice-Eccles stadium did not seem more apt to purchase anything Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/Gas Gas at the conclusion of the race. I am sure Baria's contracts have "conduct unbecoming" type clauses which allow an out...

I think this is only 50% of the equation. If it were not, then the sponsors would be wasting money to sponsor the riders. something being good creates brand loyalists...which is part of maintaining market share...you can't influence us old guys that are stuck in our ways. who you can influence are the young guys/gals that have yet to become...
Don't disagree with any of you that those who were mentally committed to the brand(s) will still be committed to them. But do Barcia's sponsors expect no market share growth out of him? Or do they pay him to recruit new buyers? All companies want to sell more stuff, not the same or less stuff. We have seen this several...

We talk about the center of mass of the machine. This made me wonder if the center of mass of the system is not static. That is to say that the rider has mass and quite a bit of range of movement. If this is true, can the rider affect the location of the axis about which the bike rotates?

explain what compresses the rear suspension. for the record, i am not challenging your physics. in a vacuum, i am sure you are right. but when you start adding/removing forces then the theoretical vacuum is useless. there are many things that can change the CoG of the system. i am always open to learning new things.

perhaps "external" was a poor word. maybe "additional" would cause less heartburn. either way, they both have zero to do with the initial trajectory of the bike the instant it leaves the jump face. the both do affect the trajectory after being applied once airborne. the equal and opposite reaction comes the bike changing attitude, no matter if we agree...

the rotation around the CoG is based off of no other external forces being applied. braking and revving are both external forces. when those external forces are applied they interact with the kinematics of the suspension causing it to either compress (rear brake tap) or extend (panic rev). In mid air, there is no load on the suspension and there...

The notion that Jason brake tapped to clear Chase's head is preposterous. Jason jumped with a technique/trajectory to miss Chase's head. His bike and trajectory are about 45* to gain the amplitude to miss Chase. That resulted in the bike having an attitude that needed to be corrected before landing. He corrected it with the brake tap.

i work in hospitals daily. they are screening more thoroughly than your local grocery store and hardware store. Covid patients are quarantined....they are not just walking in and loitering the hallways and coughing on hand rails. [medical] consumer confidence is through the floor because everyone is watching CNN/MSNBC/FOX and thinks that there local hospital is infested, when in reality most...

the reason to stay out of hospitals at the moment has zero to do with one's risk tolerance to injury or to contracting the bug. it has everything to do with: 1) not introducing additional risk to the facility...you could be an asymptomatic host....many of us probably are. 2) allowing hospitals to re allocate resources to treat COVID patients...nurses, doctors...
In a world where form should follow function, if there was an absolute advantage to any of the above data, then all players would adopt like designs. While the numbers, themselves, are objective, if they don't translate into podiums, then they are insignificant.

it's not a fairness argument princess. its a money argument. you can write the rules a million different ways to make the snowflakes happy. the bottom line is that the way it scored right now, everyone will lose money next weekend because eyeballs will be pointed elsewhere. whether we like to admit it or not, the season is reality TV...

stoked for Tomac....a DOMINANT closure to this season! No need to watch next weekend....which means revenue lost for all parties. Will Christen interviewed Jason Anderson by saying "how does it feel to close out the season...."

It does just seem weird that the current format allows for the season to become rather anti climactic towards the finale under certain circumstances. From a spectator's stand point, a forgone conclusion is boring, and many will invest their time (eye balls) else where. From a promoter's stand point, lost eye balls is lost revenue. More revenue into the sport...

I acknowledged in the original post: "elects to "manage" the series by playing it safe....they put themselves in that position because of consistency and they deserve to have that luxury. " to premise of the idea is to keep more eyes glued to the TV set. an idea similar to this might keep the racing closer. if it did, the...

2017 SX: Dungey had 3 wins. Tomac had 9 wins and no DNFs. Tomac's wins did not decide the championship. Tomac's 15th place finish at round 6 where they had to cut his front brake line decided the championship. He was running in 4th and finished in 15th...it may as well have been a DNF. Hypothetically, if there were a...

i got to thinking that an SX/MX series gets king of boring when a rider has a decisive points advantage and elects to "manage" the series by playing it safe....they put themselves in that position because of consistency and they deserve to have that luxury. they end up playing to not lose rather than playing to win. that said, imagine...

---an ORIF will always have better re alignment of a complete fracture. that will result in restoration of optimal mechanical function. ---an ORIF will result in shorter acute pain. the bone is stabilized and not popping/moving/shifting. additionally, a nifty little 7 day localized pain pump will minimize discomfort and eliminate the use of systemic narcotics for pain management. ---an ORIF...
