RiV Added a reply to Electrolysis - Engine Ice

5/22/2013 12:04pm
Also no problems with engine ice, is there any magnesium in the cooling system like the pump cover? None of the bikes I've used it in have had mag in them but I know its seems picky about certain coolants and mag may like different PH values than the normal all aluminum engine......not sure just know mag can cause electrolysis...

Newmanns crank would be best as it is most likely a later generation part, the early ones tended to break the LH side of the crank at the main bearing. They had a bulletin showing the new LH web available separately if needed, I believe they just used a different tempering process on the affected area. If you have to...

If the 250 head would fit it would most likely be tooooo much compression, is the 360 head missing? If the head will actually fit there are some places that can make the combustion chamber work, also could repair the 360 if it needs major work as well. Been awhile since I had Kelsey do some work but looks like...

Hopefully someone can help, I think you will need to post on as many forums as you can find. The Webco heads were a good product imo, however I have not seen a lot of usage beyond it being very popular on Hodaka's and early CR 125's I had one on my 1978 RM 250 and it worked extremely well...

This is pure snow! It's everywhere! Do you have any idea what the street value of this mountain is?

JT, sorry but I cannot find my old address book. I contacted my Irish buddy at Bridgestone but he does not have it but he has also been talking with Dave King about Farleigh. Cooper used to open "Cooperland" for many to ride whenever they wish, I can try to contact one of the parties that frequented his place and...

Great, thanks for clarification. I suppose I am a bit surprised using crank compression as a go to in one of the main legs of your builds, not that I doubt it at all. Imo I think it adds another layer to the build that either tuners aren't saying their doing or just sidestepping it totally...?? Honestly I've used some...

Yes, that is a nice looking combustion chamber-reminds me of some toroidal designs, nice to hear it cured your woes. Brent, I like your reference of the shop vac and exhaust. If we were to measure an engines air flow without proper pipe effects it would be surprisingly deficient without them. I also feel you have the upper hand on...

Its the only oil we found to hold up to slipper clutches on KTM Supermoto bikes. (LOTS of heat)

I doubt its a Hooker pipe, they always seemed to manage to get an exhaust shield that had a heart punched through it and were normally two piece stamped pipes. Bassani maybe, they did coned pipes but were usually pretty quiet with welded on long silencers. Home made.....I don't doubt that, its not very flowing. Are you just curious about...

If the base gasket matches well to the cases but when you lay it on the cylinder (with the alignment dowels), there is a poor match then that makes for an easy pattern. Matching is pretty easy, it really depends a lot on the tools you have. Patience and some nice rat tail files should be able to accomplish your...

Not that familiar with the 01 but the 2000 was closed down a bit too much, so that made the transfers too tall to come off the bottom end strong. Profiling the power valve outer edges was the main portion of the work, not sure if I can scan the 00 pics but can probably upload a crappy cell phone...

2/26/2013 5:36pm
Yes, proof that the single line is not the greatest is when you service the shock and the fluid in the res. looks like new & the shocks is toast. They mainly just displace fluid back and forth in the hoses volume-like stated above. You are certainly not doing a bad thing though, it looks trick and and I would...

Mixon, Eric Gorr knows his business and thats is partly due to volume, he also does complete engines so that allows him to gather a lot of information on deck height and such. If a cylinder "only" shows up on his doorstep without a deck height spec and he knows this 20XX CR 125 about 95% of the time has...

Mixon, Is there a displacement issue when buying the 125 cylinder? It would be easier to achieve your goal with a 175 imo, I have not ported a DT 125 cylinder but the software I use to configure port timing and area values doesn't really care as long as your goals are realistic (no 100 hp 16,000 rpm CR 500's)...
