Nice 89' 125. I would like to restore an 89' 125 to join my 88' 250. I really enjoyed restoring my bike. I did 2001 forks as well. I still need to finish up some jetting and need to get riding this bike but have been so dam busy I just haven't had the time to get out and ride. Keep us posted on the build. These are great bikes and well worth restoring. I have not swung a leg over a 125 in years but I am sure you can still have fun on one even if it is...

I’m building a 1999 kx 125, one area of the bike I’m not so familiar with - I took off the ignition cover and this is what I found. What’s the best way to clean this up? Is it an indicator of other problems? Any advice would be helpful!

Millenium has repaired and or plated probably 30 cylinders for me at this point. Stripped threads, cracked skirts, sleeves, plating, plating on cast iron bores that are damaged at .080 over....never an issue with those guys. Never given me a reason to go elsewhere. I'll be the first to say that the 99 KX125 could use some work. Had one, pretty mellow midrange motor from stock.

I had a 83 KX cylinder that looked as if it ate a 3/4" nut. Millennium fixed it better than new. The stock plating is crap compared to a Millenium replating anyway. If you plan on porting your bike, do it before its replated and have Tom Morgan do the work if you want the fastest 125 at the gate

get ahold of millennium technologies. Hands down the best cylinder repair shop in the world. I dont doubt they can repair your head stud threads either. Weld it up and re-drill and tap. Any machinist should be able to handle that one.

It seems to have already been replated once, and the studs are stripped, with 2 that have apparently been rethreaded (making oem studs not seal properly) But thanks for the tip @newmann Smile I did reach out to US Chrome, but not Millennium Tech. Ill see if they can help!

It looks to have already been replated, plus someone rethreaded 2 of the head studs (making oem studs not able to seal) and the other 3 are stripped bad. I did reach out to US Chrome about it already but haven't hear back...

I picked up a 1999 kx125 recently for a Splitfire PC build, only to find that the cylinder is totally shot. Im having a difficult time finding a new cylinder to replace it with - my question is - the service manual groups 99-02 kx125's, but its my (limited) knowledge that the cylinder and pistons are NOT interchangeable. Is this...

Here's the starting point, from craigslist to the dream. Since I was about 10 years old, there was absolutely nothing cooler to me than the Splitfire kx 125s. So now 20 years later, im going to go down that road of nostalgia and build myself one. It will be a "quasi-replica" of the true factory machines (to start), but...

-- Well, I've stripped it down, and unfortunately was met with my worst nightmare. The cylinder looks pretty shot. It looks to have already been sleeved and shows signs of seizure. The studs have been replaced/re-threaded and the head won't seal with OEM studs. Dammit. -- -- Now looking to replace the cylinder. If anyone has...

I think there are some Companies like pacific pipe repair who can fix that pipe easily and cheaply and give it the factory look. I don’t have personal experience with them but do follow them on Instagram and they post some cool stuff haha

Give PC a call for triple clamps. They’re making 30 sets for the 99-01 KX125/250. Should be available in 6-8 weeks.
