Marty Smith (RIP) was hired by Cagiva to develop the 190 cc bike for Supercross. I think they realized it was like bringing a knife to a gun fight and they abandoned the program.

Another reason the teams are here is the manufacturers bikes unload here.Japan to LA is more cost effective The added cost of shipping bikes thru the Panama canal to a deep water port on the east coast would raise the cost.Who knows if Calif continues to punish business here they all might look to relocate elsewhere. The glory days of endless places to ride in Calif and a large consumer base are gone and theres probably less appeal to stay here now.
