mxrose3 Added a reply to Floating Rear Brake
3/16/2026 2:29pm I remember my first bike with a non-floating rear disc... a 1986 KX250. I have always been sensitive to bike changes, and this was one of them. While I was happy that the rear disc was more powerful than the drum it replaced, and also didnt require constant adjustment.... I did notice in some braking situations with large braking bumps...

3/16/2026 2:23pm Having read through many replies, all I can say is I’ve lived it & have fitted this system to my own stuff & it’s better. Do the static test in your garage. In my long Career, I’ve seen every color have failures. Radiators, electrical stuff, shifters, brake pedals, chain guides, etc., costing Wins & Championships. I can’t recall any color doing such from this system. Bent rods, sure, but failures I don’t recall, & I had a long Career with every1 every color using them. I will go as far to Guarantee faster times especially for Pros Outdoors. It makes...

3/14/2026 8:16pm Weird thing to nitpick in that comment, all that really matters is that time change wise he was "east" of me by a few hours... It sure as fuck ain't west. I didnt mean it to be geographically correct, sorry.

3/13/2026 6:46pm I came from 2 strokes also and still ride them. Forced myself to learn 4 strokes when i had to. There are more moving parts, and you will soon learn that piston and rings arent as big of a deal as they were. They last twice as long as a 2 stroke. The bad part is, you have more electronics...

3/13/2026 6:40pm Thanks guys, I really do appreciate it. Working on 2 stroke engines was definitely a less involved process for me my whole life, but that's okay, this is very useful knowledge to have. This bike is a 2016 KX250F with only 28 hours on it and knew the original owner. Always taken care of, but noticed it was taking more kicks to start over the last season. I'll take the advice and get things set up proper. I don't have anybody else to ride with out here, so getting input from everyone on the forum has just been extremely valuable...

3/13/2026 4:05pm Pre-2006 CRF250's had soft valve seats that would wear extremely quick and wear out the valves at the same time. If it needs it, You can send the head off to get new valve seats installed, but it may be the same price as a new head. Here is a poor mans leak down test: Cylinder Head Leakdown

3/13/2026 3:46pm The bad thing about being too tight is that it could get harder to start the engine, and have low rpm and idle issues. The bad thing about being too loose is that the top end could become slightly noisy, but won't hurt anything unless they become really loose and you start to lose a small amount of power also...

3/12/2026 9:12am why can't they add a section that goes up into the stands, like they did in the 80's?

3/9/2026 7:09pm Yep lol, axle pinch bolts, triple clamps and a few others are most obvious but I dry my bike and all so it’s not that bad. Even after 300 hours. I did do the nickel wurks kit on my other bike though well worth the price, did all the obvious fasteners.

3/9/2026 6:43pm Spot on. We already have leader lights on the bikes, is there really no way to add a strip on the fender or on the bar pad that would flash blue when getting lapped is eminent? Then simply DQ or fine the shit out of guys who ignore it. Done!

3/8/2026 7:11pm must be nice to live in a dry climate. Living in the northeast, i have had this problem on my 2017 and 2018 KTM's. Mostly on the triple clamp bolts, front brake caliper bolts, and lower subframe bolts. With temperature changes in the winter, spring and fall, I have walked into my garage and had lots of moisture on the...

3/9/2026 6:38pm With all of the electronics available now, why do we rely on a blue flag that only comes out occasionally. This is where the 2 way comms may come in handy, but maybe blue lights?
