So you don't want a customer to be able to have the option to expedite an item that might have a lead time? Hypothetical situation at the moment. Say the 2019 Fly Racing gear comes out, has a lead time of 3-6 days from WPS because it's new (is clearly stated on the website it's not in stock), the customer has to wait those 3-6 days plus the 3 days or whatever your normal non expedited shipping takes from the eComm site? And doesn't have an option to expedite? This makes the ETA to the customer 6-9 business days. Or...

That's incorrect. NDA will and can be available for items in stock or out of stock with a lead time. Some people want their items quickly if there's a lead time to order in the items from a distributor or whoever to fulfill the order. Nothing wrong with that, everyone wants their items quickly. I've bought PLENTY from MotoSport.com and they are very good about giving you an estimated arrival date for your items. I'm sure everyone here wants these eComm giants to stock EVERY SINGLE ITEM, but it's sometimes just not possible. There is such a thing called excess...

These sites tell you on the page if they are in stock or not. It's pretty damn straight forward. If it said it was in stock and he just missed it by 1, that is an exception, not the rule. Also, the logic you are arguing is the norm. Go order an out of stock item with next day shipping added, tell me what happens...

Most suppliers wont drop ship straight to the customer.

Chances are pretty good there was an item that had to go from the warehouse to the shipping facility before being shipped to you.

It is typically next day from whenever they get the item in stock. You said they told you they "just received it", so obviously it wasn't in stock. This is normal.
