Isn't 32:1 a richer mix than 40:1? This is were I got my "stock" specs:

Sorry, I misread your original post about the cylinder. If there isn't a mechanical issue with the power valve, I'd really go over that carb and make sure everything is clean/in good shape. It might need a rebuild.

My bad....pilot jet 50. I fixed it above. Needle is NV3F, 2nd position down. Moved it to 3rd position down and I think it got worse though I was messing with the air screw. Plug is nice light brown hue, almost copper colored. The bike had the original 250 cylinder (OEM) which is what I put back in it. Though...

I have a 1999 YZ250 that I bought as a 300 big bore. I replated the original cylinder back to OEM 250, did a fresh top end and put the carb back to factory specs (main jet 172, pilot jet 50 and clip 2nd position down). The 250 cylinder is ported and polished and stamped PA. I did not do...

Have a 300 big bore cylinder head and piston off a 1999 YZ250. Piston is labeled 71.94 and says MAGNUM on the underside of the piston. Bike started and ran flawlessly with this in it. I am putting the original cylinder back in to make it an original 250 and have no use for this. If you need more pictures...

Yes it sounds like you have a bad bearing on the mainshaft. You need to split the cases to inspect. Oem bearings are best, but a less expensive route hot rods has tranny bearing kits.

Bringing this back to light as I'm now on to a whole other problem. As can see by the last picture, the clutch rods snaps as soon as the bike is started. When the bike is off, you can pull the clutch lever all day long. It has tension and actuator arm engages the clutch plates. As soon as it...

So picked up a bike. Guy had the clutch rod that engages the clutch basket snap. He's pretty sure he replaced that whole mechanism (rod, bearing, etc.) and even the arm on the left side that the clutch cable connects to. But there's no tension on the arm. See picture below. I can pivot that arm up and down with...

It’s just a puzzle… pieces need to be in the right places….when the pushrod is installed into the clutch hub, reach over to the actuation arm, the cable attaches to, pull on actuator to set the pushrod into the slot, you should then be able to move the actuator & feel the pushrod moving in/out. Make sure the ball bearing is inside the top hat, this is often the forgotten piece….

Its been a long time since I have had a yz 125 but I had a similar issue once. I think there may be a ball bearing that goes on end of rod or the rod has to be situated a certain way. I dont recall exactly but it definitely was that I assembled it wrong and ended up being an easy fix.

Yes, you should not be able to pull that arm all the way up with no resistance… something is assembled wrong or missing altogether… pull clutch cover, clutch spring bolts and remove pressure plate, remove top hat & pull push rod out to start diagnostics… go online or get service manual for proper assembly schematics….
