2/25/2025 6:04am Man reading this thread has me viscerally angry, the number of tracks and spots taken from such a beautiful place is enough to drive anybody to do something illegal. It's never the horseback riders (Rich) that lose their trails, it's always us.

2/24/2025 3:29pm Yeah, I prefer Cal City for exactly that reason. Traffic is predictable and you're generally rolling. Have fun. Owners are super cool and have been doing this a long time. They deserve all the support they can get for sure. I felt the same about HV but recently spoke to someone who would know who said things are actually moving and it'll be back. Don't hold me to that lol

2/24/2025 3:29pm It's a good track. Well prepped, not too crowded and yeah - you can camp wherever you want. We usually pick a spot about a 1/2 mile away so it's more secluded and just rip over there for motos. Compared to Glen Helen its way less crowded/stressful

2/24/2025 2:09pm Last time I rode Cal City was about 6 years ago. I remember it being pretty fun with a couple big ass table tops. Epic place to go camp for the weekend to ride the track and rip around the desert. How’s the cal city track these days? I rode Glen Helen last weekend at the arroyo track since I’m...

2/24/2025 10:54am Ballinger (whole area really) is a bust for non-stickered bikes for sure. Took me 7 hours r/t to hit up Cahuilla on Saturday. That is not feasible long term for me and my limited free time. Please, for the love of God, re-open LACR.

2/21/2025 12:44pm Yeah it’s illegal to ride in the riverbed down there but it use to be a spot that you could easily ride without any problems. I’m not sure about the legality of parking in the area here’s an article the local PD posted on their website. https://pasoroblesdailynews.com/north-county-city-reports-increase-in-i…

2/21/2025 10:31am I heard guys were getting their trucks ticketed when riding the turn tracks. Those use to be a blast when I was a kid. Do you know if the narcs are still writing people up for riding back there?

2/21/2025 10:29am If you think SLO/SB are even comparable to Portland then you have literally never been to Portland lol OP, your best bet is hoping that somebody opens up Castillo ranch again some day, but it's currently for sale on zillow. If you're DYING to go ride, there are some sweet turn tracks behind the Firestone Brewery in Paso, that's always fun. https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/8300-Cat-Canyon-Rd-Los-Alamos-CA-934…

2/20/2025 10:04am I'm from Bakersfield, so about 2 hours away from SB. Not much left around here now that Piru, Zaca, Porterville and Gorman are gone. I have heard the state received funding to fix the water well for the Gorman track, but who knows when that will be done (if at all). We basically ride DT1 (Tulare) or Honolulu Hills in Taft.

2/20/2025 9:23am There’s definitely some fun trails in the area, a couple buddies I rode with growing up bought Honda 450l’s and ride up in the mountains above SB regularly. The valley behind SB where Zaca was located is literally perfect for motocross tracks, tons of rolling hills and great weather but the cost of land is INSANE not to mention that...

2/20/2025 9:17am Hey man, that's great to hear! SB and surrounding areas are beautiful! Not sure if it is still open, but there were some trails to ride in the area. As far as tracks go, Zaca and Piru were the closest. Piru, well that was just a shitty deal for riders and the last owner, but basically the last guy that owned the track sold the property to a construction business and they let the permit expire so it will NEVER be a track again. Zaca, the family of the property owner said they didn't want the track there anymore. While...

2/20/2025 9:16am If you’re looking to ride track don’t forget about Honolulu Hills out in Taft. If you ride weekends, check their schedule and see when they’re open for practice. It would be nice to have a place open during the week like zaca was. Helps the people who have weekdays off for sure.

2/20/2025 8:03am I’m local and have a buddy that rents out a couple toy haulers if you decide to come out. That track gets better and better as the day goes on. A lot of desert riding right there too

2/20/2025 6:45am I may be moving to that area temporarily in the next year. I can't believe how there are no tracks in that area. California is the moto state, but it sure is a lot more accessible here in TX. I need to make some friends so we can take turns driving one vehicle to tracks that are so far away.

2/20/2025 6:44am Yeah it’s a bummer, we had one of the best tracks for years right in our backyard (Zaca) but the land around is mostly private and insuring a track is a complete nightmare in CA. If you do move out here shoot me a message I’m sure I’ll be heading to the tracks in so cal.
