The biggest difference between today and 30+ years ago is how far suspension has come. You wouldn't DREAM of hitting some of the stuff guys are jumping today because coming up short or flat landing would put you in the hospital or worse. That's not to take anything away from today's riders, but better suspension has enabled less skilled riders to do things that they wouldn't have years ago.

No one likes to talk about PED's in any sport so I don't blame you or anyone else for that matter. There does need to be some better education for the riders though, I've worked with athletes who were on sooo much stuff with very little supervision and completely unaware of what it was costing them health-wise. So few riders are anywhere near their genetic potential to begin with but the demands of a sport with a high injury rate and minimal off season makes it really tough for riders to be willing to make a change in their program.
