flyingdg Started a new thread Maico GP 450
1/26/2013 10:46am I started a build on a 74 Maico 250 that I would like to make into a 450 reed motor, if you would like to follow along and give me ideas on what to do on the build, please do. I'm not a expert on restoring bikes, so I value your input and ideas. Thanks DG http://1974maicogp450.blogspot.com/

1/26/2013 10:46am I just fired up my bike for the first time this morning (third kick) I rode it down the icy driveway to the rode and went through the gears. The clutch works great and the transmission shifted good, the motor was crisp sounds great. I had one problem with the gas tank I made, there is a pin hole leak...

12/6/2011 1:58pm Thanks! I also like to see what other people are building, where they get there parts along with the problems they have with there build. I'm hoping to try some new ideas I have for the trans and clutch on this bike, if it works, it will also work on your 490. DG

11/21/2011 4:20pm I think it is very well made, but in the older motor you have to cut the cover for a rubber grommet for the wires. The connecter for the wiring is to big for the hole in the cases. You could cut the wires and put new connecters in the wires. I’m not done with the motor, so I can’t...

9/21/2011 12:42pm I added some new posts on the Maico 450 build. It was a long time between posts because we where so busy. I picked up 35 acres of river bottoms to build a vintage track on. It was a lot of work cutting old trees out and clearing off the weeds but we have a good starting point now for...

6/25/2011 5:44am Thanks Mosslander and Andy. I have been slow getting stuff on, but I did get some new parts that I will post in the next week. I have been busy the last week or two, buying some land to make a old school vintage track. I picked up 35 acres to build it on, it has a lot of Elevation...

6/8/2011 6:11am This may help with the jetting on RM465. There is a company up in Idaho called RK Tek that makes 2 stroke heads. A friend told me about them. So I checked them out on the Web and seen that they have a patent on a 2 stroke combustion camber. I loaded up some heads of bikes I have been...
