Awesome. More of that stuff... So many great people, stories, personalities, etc, behind the scenes. Lots of them way more interesting then hearing about how great this year's bike is and list of obligatory sponsor plugs.

Baggett is an awesome actor... I know these dudes are going pretty fast these days, but outside of a few guys, don't they still just have that "euro-style"? Elbows down, sitting straight up, stiff? Gross... Makes my eyes hurt...

Hmmm... So, sounds like some "best guess" stuff... and learning to "feel" how the thing works--especially with the changing temp as the bike is ridden--is what it will really come down to. And, spring (air pressure) and compression damping aren't really independent... So, pick which part of the track...and at WHICH POINT (time) of the race you want the thing to work best? With mountainbike air forks/shocks, the suspension characteristics totally change as the things heats up. Also, trying to keep enough low speed damping so that the fork doesn't dive AND still having decent small bump compliance is nearly...

It'd be interesting to know what type of damage (if any, depending on the forces) Weimer's neck brace received. This is one area where it seems like information -- available to the public, at least -- has been lacking. Seeing pics of Trey Canard's Leatt (from his crash when he got landed on in supercross) was very eye-opening. Not only did it protect him from hyper-flexation, but it shielded his upper back from the impact of the bike that landed on him. Obviously, MX (the AMA?) doesn't have the kind of coin that of a lot of other motor-sports do...

Gotta give to Gieger 'cause of the penalty points if she goes down. You do Marvin's, you just flop over in the sand if you go down, or you don't go down and just ride away mad cause you screwed up and lost time (and got passed). If do TG's and go down, you do it at speed--which sucks--and you get run over. And, you're DEAD last once your mangled carcass climbs back on to your mangled bike and you probably will have to race the rest of the moto with your viser busted off or broken plastic hanging off...

Frickin' fashion show! Actually its pretty cool. Plus, I'm just grumpy because it just occurred to me that you know you're old when you only replace your gear when its trashed and no longer functional instead of as soon as the new s*** comes out. And I'm double depressed because it now takes me three seasons to ride enough to get it to that point instead of a couple months.

Awesome! When you think about it, More racing happens this way then it does jet-set, big-rig style. Bathed in a few rives myself. Seriously, though ... razor scooters? C'mon, guys...

Needs black rims... When do you think we'll start to see more carbon fiber and composites in the frames? That could drop weight significantly... and, yes, it is durable. Probably be 15 grand for a new bike, though...

You wouldn't fall asleep at a supercross full of these things because Poison and Journey would be blaring from the speakers along with the voice of some local DJ who knows nothing about mx but used to race 80's back in the day.

Put it this way: I'm going to hit you in the chest with a baseball bat as hard as I can, then while you're writhing around on the ground, me and a couple buddies are going to run you over with our bikes. Would you like to put chest protector on first, or just say screw it, they don't really...

Mike's head's in the right place. It is what it is. Around the top five is attainable - its a great goal! If he says he's gonna run w/ Dung, Villo, Reed - right now - its BS and even he knows it. He needs to ride well and be able to consistently stay in touch with that top five, then, hopefully, move on from there. One step at a time. Never been a huge Alessi fan, but you gotta feel for the kid.

Seriously, is there any evidence that a Leatt, Alpinestars, whatever-brace, has actually CAUSED a serious neck or back injury? Not talkin' collar bones... I break those in my sleep. But a serious injury? If you're a top-dog pro and can't afford to break a collar bone because you'll lose a pay check, that's one thing... you're in a different league. But for the rest of us hacks? Probably should have one on... There's probably someone out there that you owe it too to not become paralyzed... (You're gonna break your collar bone, anyway!). That being said, I don't have one...

Once you're outta mini's, everybody should be on two stroke 250's. Four race classes: 1) Slow, 2) Fast, 3) Pro, and, 4) Chicks ... O.k, maybe 125's for the chicks ... Simple, cheap, effective ...
