U could have the valve that rotate on each side back wagon the wrong side. Pull them out and look at each on. The have a r or l on em. It's a combination of all things , compression, how much leak down past the rings, if the engine is sealed up, which is checked with a different leak down tester. I have lots of hard laps on built 2 stroke motors. Only transmission problem I ever personally encountered was on a late model YZ250. I rounded the dogs off of a gear when the bike was stock with under 5 hours on it, send the motor to Pro Action and they did a full build on the motor, but replaced the gears with stock parts. Over 40 hours on that transmission now that no problems whatsoever. Guess it was flawed parts from the factory. That said, modern 2 strokes can take a good bit of abuse in the tranny, usually...

Theyre already bulletproof. Best thing you can do is have everything polished in a tumbler to reduce friction. That will extend the life of your dogs. Thats not really required though.
