My 2023 CRF450RL
General Info
Parts
2023 CRF450RL.
Bought this new on May 29th of this year. I’ve put just over 2,000 miles on it so far. Bought it to do off road riding for the most part. It’s been very hard finding places to get off the road to ride around southern Illinois though. If you’re local to this area and would like to get together and ride, get at me!
UPDATE: Finally got some of the aftermarket parts installed. Full yoshi system, Athena GET SX-1 ECU with wificom and 2 custom maps. Opened up the air box to get more air to the filter. Also did a smog delete/block off kit.
RESULTS: The twitchy throttle response that is an issue on these bikes has been completely eliminated. The throttle response is now smooth and predictable. The power is so much more linear and usable in all areas. It has completely changed the way that this bike runs for the better. It has more power throughout the entire power band from low end to top. Throttle response is right there. You blip the throttle and it just responds. No hesitation or surging. Fuel economy has remained the same as it was with the stock ECU (~55-58 mpg) It will lift the front end without any help from the clutch, 1st-4th gear. I don’t know the actual numbers of increased horsepower from the ECU and exhaust but I would estimate around 10-12 Hp gain. If you have been on the fence about getting an ECU for your CRF, do it. It completely changed my bike for the better. It feels like an entirely new bike after installing these mods and I no longer feel like my safety is being jeopardized by the unpredictable throttle response and flame outs. The bike just wants to flat out run now and in my eyes that’s what these bikes were designed for. You should be able to hop on, twist the throttle, and have fun without worrying about your bike stalling or having to focus all of your attention on your throttle application while at low speeds, turning, etc.. now I can focus on riding and having fun doing something that I love. Big thanks for Mike at Taco Moto Co for the maps on this ECU. They’re dialed.
