2001 Blackfoot CR250r
General Info
Parts
Hello all,
This one of the few, possible the only 2001 Honda CR250r Blackfoot racing team bikes in existence. I believe this was Michael Craig's bike. I'm here to find all the photos I can of the 2001 Canadian race series so I can have the original graphics re-made.
If if you're seeing this and have some photos from the 2001 Blackfoot "glory days" that you'd like to share I would really appreciate seeing them, otherwise I'll be making a post asking for some also.
I've owned this since 2008, back then there wasn't much info about it, internet at the time came up with nothing.
The seller told me it was a "Blackfoot bike" and had it apprised at a local shop as such, I didnt have much to go off of at the time other than it had some really good parts on it from TMR. The bike was sold to me with black plastics (Pictured) and tbh the seat cover looked ghetto (basic gripper cover, with a vinyl "Honda patch stitched on to it on both sides"), nothing I'd expect from a race team, lol! but the team actually ran those seat covers on all the 2001 250 outdoor bikes and now I wish I had kept it. 🙃
I started see some info come to light around 2014 when I found the 2001 Canadian Outdoor nationals series on You Tube (which are still up) and are worth watching! The fork guards in the first photo are the only original decals/plastics I have.
I never stopped riding the bike, I didn't ride it often, maybe a couple times a year on average, I've kept it pretty clean better than when I bought it. It still starts every time and runs excellent, I've never had a problem with this bike, but I also have been pretty strict about the maintenance. For a 23yo bike It's still pretty fast (about as fast as a 2018 stock crf450) handles really good, I love the suspension on it, the powerband is incredibly smooth and linear.
This will be my last year with it, The bike has become too impractical and expensive to ride because it requires race gas, This bike will be going up for sale soon, in hopes that it lands in a museum, or with a fan / collector. I don't have a price in mind just yet, but I can tell you its not going to be priced anywhere near what you're finding 2001 Honda CR250r's selling for in your local classifieds/ market place.
