Tomac has many points that add up to me. Very long career now at the top. RV2 and RD5 quit too soon at only 27 years old. Eli has beast mode at times that only JS7 could rival. BUT (as someone else said) Eli does not have the huge crashes JS7 did. Eli's conditioning and end-of-the-race speed are legendary. Always have been. Tomac's come-from-behind races are still some of the all-time great races for entertainment value. Being able to win like this at 30 years old is amazing. The guy has 7 wins already this year. If we're talking one race give me JS7 all day long. If we're talking over the course of a season/career? RV2. IMO the guy was the perfect balance of speed, consistency, and mental toughness.

Still blows my mind how Tomac went from one of the worst factory starters to one of the best after all these years. His starts since he has been on the blue bike are just insane.

They keep saying for the first time in history we have 2 red plates with 6 rounds to go. In 2017 Eli and Dungey both had red plates at round 15 I think.

Daytona is not exactly a great representation. He qualified 5th and finished 8th, but it's not a traditional track. Great ride nonetheless, but he then went on to qualify 15th at Indianapolis, and then pulled out of the night show. For comparison, Jmart qualified 2nd and finished 2nd at Daytona back in 2017. The competition was pretty tough back then as well. Dungey, Musquin, Tomac, Anderson, Seely, Reed, Millsaps, Baggett, Grant, Barcia, ... He then did the first 3 rounds of 2018 in the 450 class finishing 11-10-12.
