1SGSteelTigers Started a new thread 81 & 82 YZ125 Clutch Boss

Hey guys, does anyone know if the 4V2-16371-01-00 & 5X4-16371-00-00 clutch boss is interchangeable? They share the same 336-16324-00-00 clutch plate. I got a 81 YZ125H and looking for a clutch boss and found a 5X4 version. Thanks

So it’s done and has been for several weeks now. The items not original to the bike. Front/Rear fenders/Front Number plate Rims/Tires Bars/Clutch lever/Front brake lever/Grips/Cables Chain/Sprockets Decals Carb overflow and Fuel line All seals/bearings/gaskets/piston/rings/wrist pin and bearing all Honda manufactured. I doubt I will ever be able to restore another so completely using original parts mostly. This bike should run and feel like brand new.

Hey im new to this page and im looking forward to hearing from you guys. I recently picked up this roached out 1988 yz 250 for $600. Im really wanting to get into vintage moto. My dad has a bunch of old CRs but ive always been a blu cru dude. Im trying to get this old girl back to racing shape soon. Let me know what you think. I was a little inspired by the pulp mx 1988 yz 250 build. Post pics if you have one. Keep in mind ive had the bike less than a month. Heres...

I can totally relate to plastic restoration efforts, it can be frustrating. I found out myself that using heat guns to almost melting point adds to many risks to the job and offers temporary results and after a year or so the plastic starts to crackle and re-bleach a lot faster. Some people may have dialed in using a heat...

Thanks again 1SG and of course your contributions. What will I do with it.. I plan to sell it and use the funds as a donation to a non-profit foundation that was created by my GF and I to memorialize my daughter who was killed this year. Her foundation will actually make the donation so that it will be in her name as giving it. So I have no interest in riding it. That aspect will belong to the new owner if they choose. Plastics… With the past bikes I just ended up with either replacing or painting plastics. I...

I have the stock pipe and it was in excellent condition. I have been having success with powder coating pipes. I didn’t need to blow out any dents and just had it re-finished. The silencer was also in great shape. I repacked it after exterior clean up and Cerakote. I didn’t have a mid pipe. Facebook CR owners page came to the rescue. A member there hooked me up with 2 of them. Cheap too. I’m pretty sure I tipped him since he wanted so little. They both needed interior clean up or de-carbon. The sheer volume...

Looking good bro!!! Can't wait to see the final pieces come together. Looking at the stinger part of the pipe and the filth that came out of it - That is the number one issue most people over look when diagnosing a two stroke that starts four stroking and bogging when coming into the power band. My 1977 RM125B was...

Getting close. I decided to delay the CR 500 88 and restore the Yamaha WR250 91 I bought as the group with this bike. Just wasn’t feeling inspired to take it up. So that has all the before images shot with the bike washed and sitting in my shanty. I have considered doing a Chesterfield tribute. One of those super bad looking white ones from the recent Farleigh Castle VMX. Doc Wob recreated these and did an outstanding job. He and his crew are obviously at the tippy top of doing restores. Awesome, can't wait! A buddy of mine did a restore on one of these early 90's Wide Ratio's a couple years back. These are excellent bikes for hair scrambles. The suspension was kickass, I learned they could skim a cross the top's of 6 foot whoops all day long - just crack the throttle and hold on. I got the...

Thanks again 1SG for your further contributions here. I wasn’t even aware you could create your own bike check. That’s great for me since it makes it easier to place all these builds I have to do in one area. Your comments here are enjoyed and I believe lend greater credibility to my efforts. When you have members lending sensible comments and information to assist it really says a great deal about that member. Spending the insane amount of time restoring these is very gratifying. But being able to share it here is what completes it. Motor into frame.. I...

I think you should give yourself a lot more credit. These build threads like yours reinvigorate our initiative and brings back memories while giving us huge inspiration. Collaboration makes dealing with these ole clunker builds go a lot smoother. I am skilled with two strokes, but these modern four banger top ends and electronics, forget it, I just don't have...

I Started this build a while ago but didn't take the time to start a thread on it. I purchased the 1999 from a kid that destroyed the frame on his 1992 YZ. Nice kid but didn't appear to get much help or guidance from his bum of a father. I met the father while picking up the bikes. I felt bad for the kid and gave him full asking price. Look at the rear portion of the frame on the blue bike, repairs don't get much more ghetto than that. I didn't get any info on where he got...

You are much to kind, I think most of us vintage guys here at vital have graduated from the "School of Rod Knocks" lol, many moons ago... The problem I ran into with vintage wire wheels with these newer Excel rims, is that the oem nipples are undersized. The nipple flanges on the vintage oem stuff sits to shallow in...

Good info, I want to get new Excels for my 81 YZ125 however the 1.85x18 rear and the 1.60x21 front rims I need are hard to come by. They are out there, just not readily available from most retailers. Apparently it looks like your spoke and nipples were plug and play on those Takasago's? I am not sure if the...
