So, the guys at Matrix got their trailer stolen over the weekend.
Someone mentioned the rash of thefts that happened a few years ago. I can tell you the exact year was 2006. I registered mybolo.com with the idea of creating a location based alert network to act like the Amber Alert. You notice your bike is stolen, you ping everyone that participates in the program about it, the key is early detection and getting the word out.
Everyone is carrying superior phones these days. The technology is here. Maybe this exists and I haven't seen it, but I was thinking about stolen bikes, trailers, cars, lost dogs... just using the technology to do something useful for us.
I can't make it all go, but I know that if we can get enough people interested we can find the right people to. Like I said, I just went digging through my old work files looking for it. If anyone has a way to help spark this, please let me know.
This is idea 106 of 10983 - Maybe it's stupid, I don't know I haven't really shared a lot of my ideas, but I think it would be a great way to feel secure knowing there is a network of people on alert with you.
So, if you are game to throw your name in the hat to make it happen. Sign up and I'll start working it out. If not, don't bitch when your bike goes missing because I tried!

I told EIDave, nobody actually wants to do anything these days. Shit, don't send your email, just reply to this thread. Lets at least see some hands.
System set up to keep records of stolen bikes in specific areas (database online), and alerts via text/email with recently stolen bike details in your area.
I have several websites I maintain/run businesses through. Let me know if you need web design help. Or if you want to talk about your business ideas/plan with another idea-man PM me and well chat about your ideas.

There are varying degrees of web development. I design websites all day long in concept/vision, and get help with the programming side of things. I'm not the most mathematical.
I can envision how it works, and I can design the screens and functionality, but activating it and coding is beyond me.
I'm not sure where you are at in the web dev. spectrum, but if any of the above makes sense, I'd just like to see this available, I have to park my bike outside, so I always stress it going missing.
