I race in Costa Rica and the racing format is practice on saturday, then 1 moto after that and the other moto on sunday. I have such a big problem with the moto on sunday because i am never on my game on the first heat i ride, when i am cold. No matter how much i run and jump and strech, i can be sweating like a pig that i still can't ride good the first heat and there is only 1 on sunday. So anyone has any secret for riding at race level without riding a bit before?
it kind of sounds stupid but i don't know who else to ask

Just a total guess, but it might be that you're not in good enough shape and you're actually still suffering from stiffness/soreness/unrecovered muscles on the day after a practice session and first moto.

I would hate to show up thinking I was already mentally beaten by the moto format. Show up ready to sprint right out of the gate.

I'm the same way. I used to race a "throw-away" class to get things cool for me. First moto of the day I always suck.

So if I cared about +30, and +25 was earlier, I'd race +25 just to get "another practice session".

You gotta go to the gate in a sweat man! Ready to go, work out before you go to the line, so that your muscles are warmed up.

I usually beat of to Jenna Jameson to get me warmed up. Then I take a nap...

You should practice the way you race. No warm up just go.

Practice doing sprint type laps. Concentrate on practicing starts as well. Put those two things together and you will make it work. Do some practice starts at any track , and then just ride as hard as you can without making mistakes and push it for 3 laps strait. Do it over and over........then the first heat ( moto ) won't bother you as much.

If your second motos are always better , that should tell you something. You already have the speed , but your mindset is holding you back.

Good luck man!

Below are basic fact finding questions that could help provide some clues as to both a) what your weakness and b) why your falling apart mentally and physically?

What is your age? height? weight?

What is your "off track training" gym, bike, running, exercises Monday to Friday and weekend?

What is your "on the bike" practice schedule? do you a preplanned and mapped out plan for each days on the bike practice sessions? Do you practice with purpose?

What is the practice and race schedule for both Sat and Sunday events?

What food, nutritional supplements and sports drinks do you consume on race day and at what intervals?

How often to you race? Do you race local races?

Is your girl friend in the pits race day?

Do you use a heart rate monitor?

Do you monitor you a.m. morning heart rate?

Before practice how do you feel inside? are you calm or nervous?

Before your race how do you feel inside? are you calm or nervous?

The above will provide clues and to why you grenade on race day!
