For outside sponsorship in our sport ? After Surf we had Peak, Hot wheels, ! 800 collect, Chevy , and the list goes on.

Where do you all think the sport is headed and what will it take to push it to the next level ?

Mike Goodwin paved the way with Miller Highlife, and the jeans company, can't remember them but ugly jeans, they are still around now, Goodwin brought in the BIG sponsors first. In the US of course.

Miller was in and out a couple of times, first SX's were in the 70's, we'd have to look back and see which sponsors were around then. I just remember being at the 1st SX at the coliseum and they sold "glass" beer bottles, the crowd was less then desirable and they were chucking the bottles from the upper seats at the lower seats, you can see how the evolution of paper cups, plastic cups and plastic beer bottles evolved.

Glass sure paved the way for former and current AMA pros to go destroy the +30 class at Loretta's. I remember him showing up on his Surf bike and national number.

In 83, db took me to the Orlando sx. At his hotel, there was a semi parked by the Honda trucks completely full of Wrangler jeans. I was invited to go and take as man pair as I wanted. As a 23 year old just out of college, I thought I'd hit the mother load. When I look back at pictures from that era now, I cringe at those skinny ass ugly jeans.

Mark Barnett won the +25 class in 1988,
Jeff Glass won the +30 class in 1994, but i always admired him and thought his bikes and box van were trick and looked cool.

Skoal sponsored MX for years, it's an 18 over product and can't not be involved with a "family" event and minors.

Nope nothing that has to do with a cigarette product, against the law in the US.

Nope no alcohol companies either. Always thought Condoms would be perfect for our demographics.

Hmmm you got me there, I don't know how they get away with it? Who are their Alcohol sponsors? I just know we use to have beer and no more, something went don't and they were not allowed to be involved with mx/sx. I'll ask around and find out more.

Way back when there was a race team sponsored by SAMBO'S restaurants and don't forget the HALLMAN chest protector's with the 7-11 logo that was given out in the early years of SUPERCROSS.
