I think the majority of cops are people with power trips, which is why they choose the profession in the first place. People rarely just happen into jobs like that. I know a couple cops who are the coolest guys ever, but even they will tell you that most of their co-workers are douches.

But no, I don't trust the government or its employees to treat me fairly, or even safely for that matter. Do you?

No kidding!! If you are as big a dick to the cop when you get pulled over as you are on Vital MX you should not feel safe and maybe if they catch you with your "illegally concealed gun" then you will know what real fear is, Hell maybe thay will shoot you...................... we can only hope.
If people think it's okay for cops to treat the citizens who pay their salaries bad for being "a dick", then we've isolated the problem.

Is "being a dick" a crime?

Only twice?

"They don't get any more or less respect from me as any other person".

So what happened when you went off on a cop? This is from someone that doesn't feel safe when being pulled over? No wonder you've had more bad experiences than the average person. Are you the one that starts citing laws of what they can and can't do? They love that.

The cop I went off on pulled me over on the way home from work at a Chevy dealer for having my windows too dark 13 years ago. He forgot me, because I was the guy who greeted him at said Chevy dealer 6 hours prior as he exited his lowered black Chevy pickup truck with limo tint on every window.

I called him something along the lines of a ball-less hypocrite POS, and he told me to drive home safely as he turned bright red.

It's not really a concern. As long as they realize that what they're being paid to do is to preserver the rights of the citizens BEFORE worrying about their own safety, I'm cool with it.

Again, if what they "deal with everyday" is too much, they can come try and hack it in the private sector with the rest of us. I welcome them.

To me the thought of Cox carrying a concealed weapon seems kind of redundant, 5 mins of arguing with him and they'll want to kill themselves.

First of all I don't consider you as a member of my brotherhood because you are a dick and no it is not a crime to be a dick but it IS a crime to carry a illegally concealed weapon. Yes you have tinted windows and that is illegal but when you get pulled over and they bust you for the gun I think they will let the tinted windows slide. Oh and I hope you bring up the " I pay your salaries" line when you get pulled over and I doubt you would feel safe because when you are a dick to the cops they will be a dick to you and you will lose. You're such a whiny little girl.

I've been pulled over before while carrying and it's not a problem. They have no reason to want or need to search my car or my person. You know, probable cause? So it's never going to be an issue.

But leave it to authoritarians to root for government oppression. Nice work. Funny that you consider yourself a conservative.

While we're on the subject, though, do you think it's right for the government to prevent me from defending myself and my loved ones? Do you consider that within the scope of the right of our government?

Also, do you think slavery was right? Lack of women's suffrage? Making black people ride in the back of the bus?

I knew you were going to avoid answering the question and create a strawman argument.

I'm not comparing myself to anybody. I'm pointing out laws which were enforced but were also wrong. But I didn't figure you'd be able to grasp the concept.

I'd laugh, except you are so typical it makes my face all frowny.

First off, I like James Stewart. I think he's a remarkable rider and deserves respect for his accomplishments.

Was it the worst thing he could have done...... No! Not by a long shot.

Is Cox hugging nuts with his proclamation of move along there's nothing to see here? Yup!

Who would expect anything else? The same media and "journalists" who will bury anything remotely harmful for the sport are now the apologists when the mainstream media comes in and reports on an event that gets coverage beyond our little sphere of influence.

If you want to be relevant. If you want to be a "reporter". If you want to be a "journalist", then ply your trade and get an interview with James, and then get one from the 5-0 to balance the report.

You got scooped by some schmuck who posted on a message board and all you have to come back with is an editorial apologist piece.

Weak.

It would almost seem as if it was written by a person who had no first hand accounts. As if they were a thousand miles away when it happened and hadn't even gotten a statement from any of the parties involved.

KInd of like a Dan Dunes supercross report.

It's oddly ironic that Cox's keyboard would have a created something like this only mere hours after throwing somebody else under the bus for the same thing. I guess a race report is a higher standard of journalism than reporting on a star of the sport's arrest. Not even an offhand mention of either side refusing to return calls regarding inquiries into the matter. Although he does credit "the news articles" he used to get the "facts". I can see now how the moto-journalists are so superior than the message board chatter that scooped it.

Just listen to what we tell you and move along. Seriously, there's nothing to see here. Here's some pictures of dirt bikes and pretty monster girls to keep you amused. We have some press releases to feed you when you're done with our opinion perspective. It's not like we bring you "real" news or anything right?

You win Nerd, I got nothing. You go right ahead and conceal your gun and keep fighting the good fight because its guys like YOU that made it so Rosa Parks could sit at the front of the bus and not have to give up her seat to anyone. And it will be guys like you who get the law changed so anyone no matter how unstable they may be ,can carry a concealed weapon and one day we may have a national " Nerd day" that we all get the day off and get paid for it because "Nerd has a Dream" Unsure

If he gets caught with his illegal concealed weapon I hope the police put the fear of GOD in him during his arrest and then maybe he won't think it is no big deal to commit a felony.

Dunno man. I'm just glad you came to your senses. When we are angry, we often short circuit our brain and loose common sense as in prefrontal cortex becomes disconnect and amygdala run berserk. I'm often victim of that as well...

Carry on!

I wish more people would ask themselves whether laws are right. If people just stop obeying BS laws, and enough of them do it, the laws get changed. That's what's slowly happening with marijuana, for example.

Who said he was impersonating a cop?
I think he was trying to be like all of the volunteer firefighters that have those lights in their car.
Or are they all impersonating police officers?

Since everyone is making up scenarios how about this one. Some off duty cops are dicking around in their personal vehicle and won't GTFO of the fast lane like most cops like to do on or off duty. JS tries to pass so they speed up, JS flashes his lights and turns on the blue and red flashers, they get out of the fast lane but try to flash their badge. I don't know about you but I personally will not pull over for some yahoo flashing a badge.

He didn't run from the cops, he wasn't evading, he drove on to the airport and got pulled over and cooperated with real cops in real cop cars with real cop uniforms.

There was probably asshole moves by both parties to begin with.

Video of it, A helicopter followed him, and there have been many reports warning citizens that cops are cracking down on people using any form or red and blue illegal lights. Cops are cracking down on it because the blue and red lights the iPod App that allows you to have blue and red flashing lights. In my opinion the industry and his team are trying to sugar coat it so that people like you who want to be a big part of the industry, that hardly knows anything, still loves him. You obviously don't care that he used illegal lights on a cop. If I were you, I would find a rider to like that actually works rather then relying on talent it will only take him so far.

Only police have red AND blue lights. All others are breaking this law. If a volunteer fire fighter has red AND blue then yes he would be guilty of the same thing. Any volunteer I've ever seen had blue lights only. If someone tries pulling you over with only blue lights or only red lights, don't stop, they don't have the authority.

I did go too far on that one and no, I do not hope he is shot to death and I apologize for saying that..How about if they just shoot him in the ass? No..... still too much,Ok How about this ...... If he gets caught with his illegal concealed weapon I hope the police put the fear of GOD in him during his arrest and then maybe he won't think it is no big deal to commit a felony.

I wish more people would ask themselves whether laws are right. If people just stop obeying BS laws, and enough of them do it, the laws get changed. That's what's slowly happening with marijuana, for example.
Impersonating an officer is a bull shit law?
