Roger decoster's answers the question....DO YOU THINK THAT 250 TWO-STROKES SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO RACE AGAINST 250 FOUR-STROKES?

Yes. I think it would be fine. The two-stroke makes more horsepower, but it makes it over a narrower range, while the four-stroke makes less power, but has a broad powerband. I think they are equal machines. The two-stroke would be better in sand and deep loam, while the four-stroke would be better on harder dirt. It takes a more talented rider to race the two-stroke and I can see where it would be difficult for most of the current 250 four-stroke riders to make the change. I'd wouldn't oppose a rule change

I agree with Roger. It doesn't matter to me what someone races talent it TALENT plain and simple. But i don't agree with the Ama's rules at all. Some Children have grown with a two stroke there whole lives if they get a pro card and wanna race it in the 250cc class they should be able too! Diff subject The AMA should make a rule/LAW that Quads can't be on the track practicing at the same time as bikes at amatuer track open practice's.

First of all, AMA should regulate an open practice?? Really? What is a sanctioning body doing running any sort of OPEN practice? That's up to the track owner who wants their money.

Second I still don't understand this entire approach by most of you to this argument. You're preaching among yourselves about shit you all agree with and asking why nothing gets done about it. I dunno, maybe you're talking to the wrong people??

Was Roger saying the same thing when he was working for a team that didn't market a 250 two stroke in the US?

When they first started jamming the refrigerators down our throats I read a piece where he stated his preference for the 2.

But like a guy that works for Coke, you don't go around selling Pepsi if you want to keep your job.

Now that he works for a company that gives a choice, he might feel a bit more relaxed in what he says.

Anyone need any more lessons in life?

I'm gonna trade my RM250 for an F then I won't be a goon anymore. It's the bike, not me.

I hope I don't contradict myself since I posted that Roger had experience. I wonder, though, how much riding experience he actually has since the mid 80s? He knows the riders and how to manage a team, but for actual riding experience, he relies on his riders and what they say.

In between his jobs at Honda and Suzuki he tested bikes for MXA. That was early to mid 90s.

He is a 5 time World Champ, managed Team Honda and Team Suzuki, managed many Motocross des Nations Teams and worked for a magazine testing many different brands of bikes and is currently the KTM manager.

But what does he know compared to the "geniuses" on here.

Feld and MXSports should give him a call, they might learn something.

But according to your signature they would be 2 seconds faster. Who is right, DC or RD?

I do believe the reason of his signature, is to show the kinda of response that is given. It has been said many times, and even Jlaw has been used in the past. Although we know from FACTS from race times, that if they were 2 seconds faster a lap, they (250 2 strokes) would be beating 450F's. We all know that isn't happening. So you be the judge...

I agree with RD. If you allowed equal displacements in the 250 class, you would have close racing (even though several personnel associated with outdoor motocross believe that you would have the pros run away from the 4-strokes).

My main question, is still.... Is there any of the big magazines that will do what's right this year? Amateurs race cc vs cc. They advertise these bikes to the amateurs. So will the magazines do shootouts with what amateurs can ride, race and buy in a given class? It seems so simple. I could care less about the pro side of things. If magazines did complete shootouts, we could finally truely say, our wallets spoke when buying bikes. Be whatever direction buyers go, so be it. Just sayin

And there ya have it folks. I'm a big fan of 2 strokes too DC. Let the 250 2 strokes take over the smaller displacement classes. Thats what happened with the 250f's isnt it? The 125 wasnt even copmpetetive with them but that rule was OK.
