From Chad Reed's twitter page:

Worked on my Trey Canard footpeg scraping scrubs today. Not gonna lie, they scare me.

I've been noticing this season that Trey Canard has really taken his "scrubbing" to the next level. It was probably the difference Saturday night late in the race. I think it's safe to say that there's only one other guy on the track right now that can keep it lower.

I think TC can scrub it just as well, if not better than James. I think TC looks better\more comfortable on his Honda than James looks on his Yamaha. Just my opinion though

He's been doing it for quite awhile now, and yes it's pretty sick.

At Cooperland a couple years ago....his peg was dragging about 5 feet before the lip of the jump...

I think James even said a couple years ago...that NOBODY does it better than Trey.

I think he does them better than James because of the bikes they are riding. If James was on a Honda, it would be lights out for anyone. That Yam is a lead sled.

TC was killing it at JAX. Not show what happened in the middle of the season. He had a variety of struggles, but, he's back and going to be tough to beat for the rest of the year IMO.

I know he looked like he got shot out of a cannon when he was hitting that big triple at Jax.

Yes, and his riding style is so sick. Too bad Grant has been hurt, he is a whip master and Trey is a scrub master...beauty in motion :]

Just the thought of dragging my peg on the face of a jump scares me. The only time that's happened has been during mud races if I crash and slide back down the face of the jump. Other than that, my pegs take of as dead even as I can get em. It just blows my mind of how it must feel to be THAT comfortable on a bike and going that fast.

Roczen is another one that's more comfortable flying sideways than straight.

At 47-seconds Canard scrubs the "caution light" that are setting on each side of the triple off the freaking jump, along with a tuff block!!! Check it out!!!

It's also a good video showing how much lower he stayed over the triple.

Trey was on it last week. He almost missed the face of that triple he was pushing so hard. The most interesting part of that interview "I hope we don't see any more right hand turns in SX" I assume he is referring to the first turn.

I agree. My brother and I were talking about this. If someone is going to challenge James as far as pure "speed" goes, it's going to be TC. He seems like he is the only other guy out there that may be able to run the JS7 pace. Especially when if he keeps scrubbing like that lol. It is absolutely sick to watch.

Trey has the scrub mastered but Reed has the whoops mastered.
Once Trey finds them out he will be hauling ass!

Yep, Reed was dialed in the whoops. Trey looked like he was on a mechanical bull.

Wow. Pause that video at 49 sec (peak for TC) and 52 seconds (peak for CR). TC was a whole bike height lower. That is stretching out a lead.

Trey Canard's scrubs are out of this world, and he saves a lot of time by doing them. I wonder why so many riders don't do it as much? Are there confidence levels not as high on a supercross track? Not saying that out of disrespect, but I see riders all over so-cal that aren't even pro and their scrubs are beyond flat and just like Trey's, but once they turn pro they seem to stop doing it as much. Over the supercross triples i've wondered why guys like Reed and Dungey don't scrub it as much. Save energy maybe? If you do it in a certain way you learn how to make it easier to scrub rather than hit it normal. I think Trey mastered that technique; and personally I learned how to flow better by scrubbing it outdoors, but without wasting energy. I actually save energy by doing it. I'm not saying this to compare myself to anyone, but it's possible to scrub and save height/distance without wasting all your energy.

I think a lot of it has to do with the bike. Canard's suspension has always looked really fluid and softer than the other bikes IMHO.

For the most part -- I'd guess it's the combination of not feeling comfortable scrubbing that hard and not making that much more time. I think if Stewart was on Canards bike, it'd be scrubbing-galore out there.
