Nope, our traffic is remarkably stable every month. Yes, it's the highest at certain points in the race season, but it's not dramatic. Also, 90% of the reports I was receiving before were from the non-moto section.

From who? The same people? Maybe these members are just serial narcs who report anything to human resources?

Its too bad that non moto is now so bland.

The reports were from a pretty wide-ranging batch of users; however, the reports were against the same 10-20 users (depending on the day and topic).

To put it bluntly, there was a higher number of users making the reports than the number of users the reports were made of.

"It's too bad that non moto is now so bland." It's not full of people screaming at each other over politics they can't discuss without telling each other to fuck off, burn in hell, etc... It was honestly sad how much the discussion will fall to just cussing each other out or baiting each other to get reactions. Those users need to find a life, maybe get off the internet to hang out with their families or go ride dirt bikes.

Your last two sentences sum's it up the best.

Possibly referring back to the data center thread where he and eeyore got into a chic fight, nails were out, and hair weaves were flying.

He’s on time out also. How you know if someone is on time out, is if you put their name in  to send a pm, their name won’t be on the list that pops up. image 3945.png?VersionId=mrh9SwrN2Ym65r2 qAnGtrZKpqH Rp

His neverending posts of, doom and gloom, rhetoric on any subject, has him aligning more with eeyore, than drooper.

Whose character wasn't a big bundle of optimism as it was.

I am baffled by the down votes.

Soggy is the most depressing person posting on Vital.

I wouldn't read into the downvotes much , until they get to the point they hide something.   There are always people that will not like something somebody has said at one point or another and just downvote everything they post.

While I think getting along better is a better way to go, and the anonymous downvotes  are better than a sidetracked back and forth that  strays from the main subject.  I still think that if You are gonna downvote something You should own it and  give some sort of counterpoint or say something.  But like I said it most likely keeps things much more civil than if everybody flooded threads with replies for every reason they downvote something.

I'm glad that the amount of complaints has dropped. I guess that most likely seals the end of politics being discussed on here.  Some sort of exception  for it being directly related to moto might make sense if there is something that would impact moto in some way , good or bad.  But otherwise I doubt ML would want to deal with the giant amount of complaints just so 25  people can talk about politics on here.

I do hope that a lot of people have noticed that while political thoughts may differ, that we are all much more alike than we are different.  And not the enemies that a lot of  people and media like to portray people with differing political beliefs.

Upvote/downvote could be done like Thumpertalk did with "gas in the tank". Right now it means nothing on this forum. You get enough downvotes and you get suspended. The moderators then review to see if it was justified. You get enough upvotes to offset it and you stay alive. Let the herd manage itself a bit. This would force people to better balance their own activity to some degree. Perhaps this would change how people use this feature if it had consequences.

If all you do is downvote posts, that should also factor in, not just the upvotes/downvotes you receive.

Build in some self correcting mechanisms within core forum function, and take the load off of moderators, who then get criticized for not executing rules fairly across all users.

EDIT - Like @The real Sasquatch I chose to come here to non moto to talk politics a bit because of the very varied opinions/perspectives, but we are all here for the same foundational reason - we all love moto. I typically hate politics and historically avoided it, but I think we can all agree the world is changing and it's good to talk about these things, we just need to figure out how to do so respectfully.

That's the stupidest damn thing I've ever heard of.

We're supposed to be frikkin adults here, not a bunch of school children looking for the love they're not getting from mommy and stepdad.

It would put more control in the hands of  popular public opinion. I don't know if that would  help Vital go in the direction that the people who run it want it to. Just because somethings popular doesn't make it right or that it would help this site function how the owners want.

It could result in even more complaints being filed too. Its hard to say , You would think that its simple math and that it would result in fewer complaints  if only opinions that were more popular were allowed to thrive.  But without knowing who's complaining and what exactly they complain about, it could also just make it more work for the people running Vital.  The political threads seemed like they were pretty calm  around the time the ban was put in place , with more posters tending to stick to threads that aligned a little better with what they wanted to discus and  many threads seeming to have more people agreeing than disagreeing.  So popular opinion  of what's posted may not solve the complaining . But I don't pay much attention to the downvotes so maybe they were also  very high?  If the site gets  even just 1% of the viewers reporting something  that's 1000  for every 100k people.

I don't really know how to say it, but Vital posters are not like many other posters I've seen in other forums I've been a part of posting on. So I don't know that the way other forums are run would work here.

We're supposed to be frikkin adults here, not a bunch of school children looking for the love they're not getting from mommy and stepdad.

I agree that we are supposed to be adults here. However, the fact that ML had to start this thread and remove the option to discuss politics suggests many of us aren't capable of having adult discussions about such things.

Not into it? Don't click a thread or engage. Should be pretty simple.

The fact that ML needs to moderate, deal with daily complaints from adults about things strangers say to each other online (adults), is telling.

This would weed out the type of person you just mentioned, taking some of the load off folks like ML needing to send adults to time out for being dicks online.

It would attempt to make people think for a second before posting.

My suggestion isn't about looking for love or hate "like school children who are looking for love they aren't getting from mommy and stepdad". Instead, make the existing feature actually useful. Let the herd of "adults" govern themselves a bit more.

If that's the stupidest damn thing you've ever heard of, then congratulations - sounds like you've had it pretty good!

Could have just said you don't agree or that it's a bad idea, and let us know why you think that. I appreciate the response though, it did make me chuckle a bit!

EDIT - If your post was sarcasm then well played sir!
