Saw that he announced he doesn't have a GP ride for next year. Seems crazy for a top-10 rider on a 40-man gate that has 20 people on it; most races don't have a factory ride. On top of his talent, he's got a good online following he seems like a no brainer.
He's more than capable, but I think had a few injuries this season so, on paper, it looked like he underperformed. And we know you're only as good as your last race generally in sponsor's and fans eyes.
Horgmo is someone who could probably make a pretty good name for himself in the US (good with social media, personable, etc.) at least outdoors. But as is the case with so many coming from MXGPs, is he willing to test his mortality in SX? If he's simply trying to remain healthy (I don't recall what the injuries were), I'm guessing he'll try his luck at another ride of some kind in MXGP or the Euro national championships.
There is no money.
Or return on that money.
How good he is, is irrelevant.
The people who have funded MX forever are struggling, and something has to go.
We are seeing that across a lot of motorsports here in the UK, the benefactors who have bankrolled teams across multiple disciplines are going away because guys who used to be able to fund it and not worry, are now having to thing about what they are doing with their $$ .
The Organisers seem oblivious to the fact that the world is financially on its arse in a way it has never been , and nobody wants to admit it.
Well to be honest in 2026 we had like 23 or 24 riders signed up as oat teams/riders (so to do all GPs) for mxgp. I find that a significant number. Especially since it excludes guys like Watson, Sterry, vd Moosdijk etc who all did a bunch of wildcards and seem to be living of mx.
imo Horgmo is simply a very good rider, but not good enoug for a factory ride and also not considered to have the potential upside to give him a shot. I understand why teams go for other options. It sucks, but yeah.
So there is money for a bunch of guys. Having less GPs would for sure help, i think if you remove 5 GPs (some overseas and Turkey and 1 in Spain) that would help a lot.
Horgmo had a bad year relatively speaking. I think he should try to explore options in America. He's a technical rider that could probably do okay indoors on a 250 (make mains) and really well outdoors on a 450.

Someone asked about going to America to race on his live stream last night. He said you need money get yourself set up over there, unless you have a contact or deep pockets it isn’t happening.
Maybe those teams should spend a bit less on personeel and so,,, especially when you hear that herlings team has 50 to 60 staff menbers walk around per mxgp.........the mxgp paddock is starting to look more and more like that of motogp.........so they do have money for that.... but kawasaki and husqvarna don't have money for a second rider.?........horgmo isn't i rider for the top 5 but defintely top 10......
This all comes back to how much money do you need to ride an MX bike round a muddy field.
Herlings rocks up to a British race with 2 staff, and Goggle Bob.
GP”s is where its at….
If herlings had gone to the mxgp races the way he goes to regular races,,,, mening with two mechanisch an a Van... then he would have simply become champioen as well.......
Yeah its insane. Its a bit frustrating to see all those succesfull businessmen being copycats and come up with huge teamstructures (both facilities as nr of people), spend millions, dont get the resultsand then leave the sport frustrated a few years later.
Most of them would have been more succesfull if the hadnt put the money in the teaminfrastructure but just paid a good rider a good price.
Kevin should take a good look and dive into the US Scène. After seeing Toendel doing that well and getting rides over there.
Kevin is a step above Toendel IMO speed and riding wise.
i am not aware of the situation of Toendel, but is he getting a decent payday in the US?
I think he might. Don't forget Guillod headed over recently too...
