Thanks for the responses guys...  Nice pics Westcoast Mariner.

My wife (62 yrs old) hates MX.  I still vet raced a bit and broke some bones when we first got married and she worries I will start vet racing again (will Loretta Lynns have a 60+ class someday?😄).  When I have gone with buddies to both RedBud MXON races and last years MXON race at Ironman we arrived on Thursday night and camped/partied thru the whole weekend.  This year will be MUCH different dragging the wife into this packed event.  Instead of being excited to go, I am somewhat dreading what will be a very long day with a wife who is likely gonna be pissed off the entire day.  At least my expectations are not high this year for Team USA as we are not sending our best.  Will do my best to just soak up the atmosphere and try to be happy that I get a day there.

I have done quite a bit of research/planning on site-seeing for this trip and do realize that Mt St Michel will be busy on Saturdays although it will be a little better than if it was summer peak vacation time. We will likely head there early in the morning on Saturday and if it gets too busy we will head back to our hotel and rest as we will be tired from traveling along with the time change anyway.

All that said, we are doing it... 😄       (fingers crossed for an unlikely USA podium 🤞)

Any advice on where at the track to watch from that would be close to the restrooms and maybe not as many chainsaw weilding fun lovers?  Do people bring folding chairs into the track or is it pretty much standing on the grass only?  Pictures I have seen of past Ernee events look like mainly one steep hillside that it totally packed unlike Redbud or Ironman where there were several various spots to watch from.

If you been married that long a pissed off wife is just that, a pissed off wife. She ain't leaving you for that! You get one day out of a 10 day trip? Jeez, I thought a was whipped in my long marriage (ended at 27.5 yrs) but man you got me beat!! Lol have fun.....and MAN UP!! LOL

Advice to view the track

The grass you see in the picture is the view from below.bathrooms are accessed by walking through the tunnel on the rightDSC 1135

The upper area will look down onto the track.bathrooms close by

Both will be full

My wife deserves this 30 year anniversary trip.  She put up with lots of years of my hobbies including 5 years of every Saturday night with me racing at the local dirt oval car races.  A couple years of competitive shooting. 30 years of owning and flying airplanes.  She has put up with a lot..... The fact remains that she knows that if I started racing MX again I would go all in and likely end up in the hospital and or crippled. 😉

Hello,

We're planning to arrive at camping in thursday evening, how it is there in that time. As I understand nobody can get in camping before 14:00 October 1, it means there will be queues already waiting before that, yes ? Does anybody know about camping more, like where are some stages planned and is there any discos planned ?WhatsApp Image 2026-09-21 at 19.37.35

If you are camping,  try to get yourself a quiet area away from food of beer stalls. It gets really wild at Ernee at night, pit bike racing , bikes flying into the crowd and fights.

Unless you want to be a part of it, best to stay well clear!

For those that have experience with Ernee ... ou pour mes amis francais ...

Are the parking lots (1 & 2) to the left (west) on this map feasible for early Sunday morning arrival? I'm going to guess the camping side to the east will be more problematic. (The map on the Ernee website (below) was not a large file and therefore not too legible - perhaps my lack of online savvy or funky web browser is to blame).

We are planning to go hang out in the campground after the Saturday qualifying races to see the mayhem, lol.  I have a friend from England who was going to camp but could not get VIP, so he is camping offsite.  He said the regular campground is "carnage", haha

Pitbikes prohibited, chainsaws prohibited, bbq in special areas and etc prohibited.... hopefully it's just their expectations, because from my view, there is TWO events happening that weekend. One for sure is races through daylight and another one is ''mxon campfest'' it's pretty wild, to say the least.

I've been to the RedBud MXoN last year, To my American friends : Be prepared for something WILD 🤣

RedBud is a peaceful weekend when compared to a European MXoN (I made it to Ernee twice, Matterley Bassin, ...)

Last year MXON was at Ironman in Indiana.  It was pretty tame in the campground other than a motorhome caught fire likely from a faulty refrigerator.

Last MXON at Redbud was 2022.  It got kind of wild in the campground that year after the pitbike race.  I personally did not witness any fights.... just lots of chainsaws, drinking and tom foolery.  At all three MXON's I went to in the states, during the days it seemed like all folks from the various countries got along fine and had fun together waving flags, revving chainsaws and blowing airhorns.  Is Ernee gonna be different in that regard?

The Europeans will welcome you with open arms, probably get you pissed and have a great time with. It does make red bud look tame though. The usual pit bike racing but a lot of other crazier shit involved. 2016 Maggiora a pit bike caught fire and people started throwing the portaloos on it. Italian riot police turned up and a few of the spectators thought it would be great to throw stones at them. They soon got a good beating!

All in all enjoy the food enjoy the racing and mingle with other nations and it will be the best you have been too!

Not sure on current regulations but will that battery in the drill/horn get flagged in your checked luggage?  Seems like they are really cracking down on large batteries these days.  Good luck and safe travels!  Will keep my eyes (and ears) open for that chainsaw on Sunday.😄

Thanks for correcting me - Mixed it up with the National at RedBud this year 😅

But yes, I was talking about the MXoN at Ironman which was a great event but tame as you mentionned

Not sure where you are flying from but here are the rules for USA airport TSA.  I think I read that the checked bags go thru scanners also.  Not telling you what to do.... Just thought it would suck if you got held up by security or fined if the rules where you are flying out of are the same.

Quick google search provided below info:
"Lithium-ion and lithium metal batteries (including power banks and spare portable chargers) are allowed up to 100 watt-hours (Wh) per battery in carry-on baggage without special approval. [1, 2]

Size Limits & Rules
  • Under 100 Wh: Allowed in carry-on bags with no quantity limit (for personal use). This equals roughly 27,000mAh for a standard 3.7V power bank.
  • 101–160 Wh: Allowed only with explicit airline approval, and limited to a maximum of 2 spare batteries per passenger.
  • Over 160 Wh: Strictly prohibited on commercial passenger flights. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

Checked vs. Carry-On Bags
  • Spare (uninstalled) batteries and power banks: Must only be packed in carry-on baggage. They are completely banned in checked luggage due to fire"

So the one 6.0 battery is cleared for carriage in my carry on bag with the airline

Paid the extra bag fee for the power saw and associated bits for it.

All good now

So look the fuck out….. there is a Canadian in the crowd blending in with the rest of the loud crowd

I also think you are not allowed to keep it in the carry on in the overhead bin, needs to be monitored at all times. Check this.

Airlines have ”burnbags” if it goes hot for some reason.

Lithium-hybrid battery fire on a aircraft is NOT good.

Thanks everyone for the info. Correct any lithium battery over a certain size will need to be under the seat and not over head. I have taped over the terminals as well.

Well it seems the Canadian security at the airport thought a chain saw was considered dangerous goods…..

They took out the motor from my checked bag after it was checked in

This is after I had declared what was in the suitcase at the time of 24 hour pre check in.

Funny the airline makes no mention of not allowing a internal combustion engine in checked luggage

But some fuck tard in security deemed it dangerous goods

I even had confirmation that it was being carried and made the allowance for the lithium batteries as well for my carry on.

How was customs in CDG airport?  Did you get searched again at French customs due to being hassled by security when you departed?
